i have recently bought a '91 lagacy ls w/ 138k for $2,000. i thought that it was a great purches but i recently found out that the clutch pack is blown and i'm opperating w/ only one wheel drive. not so cool at 8,000 ft. in the winter. i have found a 50k tranny from japan for $950, $50 for delivery. installed that would be $1,350 +. i'm tempted, but i can see that there are other problems right around the corner(i.e. suspension, oil leaks repair, tires). taking suggestions, should i take the plunge or cut my losses?

thanks for your quick reply. yes, my car is AWD and it is also an auto. she has around 133k on her. there isn't a fuse in the 4WD connector, and that's the way it should be, right? how does one tell if the clutch plate is worn? or is that something i should take it into the shop for? again, thanks for your help, nm

i recently bought a '91 lagecy ls. it was bought specifically for its handling in snowy, etc. conditions. this morning on my way to work i was following a newer suby and watched as it plowed through 2-3" of snow while i fish tailed and spun out. eventually i had to turn around for loss of momentum. now here i am missing work wondering: do i need to get snow specific tires and/ or is could there be something wrong with AWD. this is my first AWD car, but it sure was handling alot like my old front wheeler. please help! thanks, nm

hello everyone. just got a new (for me) suby. '91 legacy ls. the car only had 127k if you can believe that. any way, I got a pretty good deal but there are some minor probs. the main one being the gas gage doesn't work; is this an easy fix? or does the whole pannel need to be replaced? also, in the morning (cold start) the parking senser doesn't regester and the car won't start until' I wiggle the shifter (automatic). any tips would be great. thanks
