Charging System Anomalies!

I have a charging problem. The Alt light is on. Voltage is low. however,headlights burn bright. The stop lamp and brake fluid lights are dimly lit. Battery drains over night. any suggestions? -
Volt meter does not read correct voltage. Alternator light dimly lit at all RPM's. Battery drains overnight. Stop lamp and brake fluid lights dimly lit. However, Headlights bright while under way. Any suggestions?
