  1. sweet thanks for the help guys! one less wire to find a destination for
  2. hey mate cheers for the fast reply! it is out of an 88 turbo wagon, 5 speed 4wd. the engine is in a buggy so instrument panels etc aren't being used. i just had a squizz at my ecu pinout diagram and i found that pin #40 (ecs lamp output) also goes to I/P so i think you are right in saying instrument panel. does this mean i can remove these wires then?
  3. i am rewiring my ea82t loom and on the ECU wiring diagram i have it says there is a yellow wire going out of the IGNITION COIL that goes "TO I/P". i have found the yellow wire but what does I/P stand for and where is it located? cheers in advance! dave
  4. found fusebox, found green fusible link yea its only a small sandrail-style buggy so not a lot of room to put it really, but ive gone thru the loom and taken out most of the accessory wires, left in all the ecu ones and are left with a few i am unsure of, maybe someone here can help... here are the wires i am left with that dont seem to show up on the ecu pinout. 1. one of the two BLACK/WHITE wires out of the FUEL RELAY near ecu. the one that goes to the ecu is there, but where is the other one meant to go? 2. BLACK wire out of the IGNITION RELAY near ecu. where does that one go? it isn't the one that goes to the engine. 3. YELLOW wire out of the COIL. on the wiring diagram it says it goes to I.P, what/where is I.P? 4. WHITE/BLACK wire from GREEN FUSIBLE LINK / POSITIVE (+) BATTERY TERMINAL. where is that meant to end up? 5. and finally a YELLOW/BLACK wire, a BLACK/RED wire and a YELLOW/GREEN wire all coming out of the BLACK engine loom plug (near alternator). where are they meant to end up? any help would be mint as i have spent hours on it and these have me stumped
  5. yea i took the old cap in with me but as they were closing i didnt take the time to stop and match the caps up as i should have. i saw the same two bolts, the parts were for the same engine so i got the new cap and that was that. i didnt think they would be different sizes. lesson learned for the future!
  6. oh sweet that makes life easier! is the 90 xt the same as the 88 wagon parts wise? i bought a new dizzy cap, was the 2-bolt type which looked identical to the one i have. got it home, went to match it with the old one and it is identical except the bolt holes on the old cap are a few mm further apart than on the new cap. at this point its looking like a wrecked car is gonna be my best bet :-\
  7. yea i have the hotwire afm. what about just changing the distributor caps? my dizzy on the ea82t is fine, its just the cap thats broken. will a spfi dizzy cap work on a mpfi? sorry about the questions, i dont have much experience with subaru's! im trying to learn as much as i can so i dont fack it up haha
  8. yea that sounds logical, its a manual ecu so most of the AT stuff isnt there from factory, and the vehicle did not have air con either. ive heard talk of a green fusible link..where and what is it exactly?
  9. hey people, will a carb'd EA82 distributor and cap work on an EA82T? one of my leads had corroded and broke off in the cap and i cannot find a replacement in the shops anywhere, they are similar but don't line up. any help? cheers
  10. hey i hope im in the right category, im looking to find out what i can do without from the following list? the engine is in a dune buggy and mated to vw manual gearbox. just after the basic engine running components, none of the accessory bs. just tell me what number(s) i can remove from the loom. cheers! 1988 EA82 turbo 4-plug ecu pinout 1. check connector 2. air flow meter signal 3. purge control solenoid 4. neutral switch 5. air flow meter ground 6. fuel pump relay 7. crank angle sensor power 8. crank angle sensor reference 9. water temp sensor 10. ground 11. --- 12. air flow meter power 13. duty solenoid (waste gate control) 14. inhibitor switch 15. inhibitor switch 16. throttle sensor ground 17. crank angle sensor position 18. --- 19. ignition switch signal 20. ground 21. throttle sensor power supply 22. throttle sensor signal 23. air conditioner signal 24. starter signal 25. idle switch signal 26. --- 27. control unit power input 28. identification of specifications 29. car speed sensor 30. identification of AT 31. --- 32. test mode connector 33. read-memory connector 34. --- 35. control unit power input 36. knock sensor 37. ignition output power transistor 38. air flow meter burn-off output 39. self-shutoff output 40.
