  1. Well, when I peeked under the hood at the throttle body, it looked as if one of the pulleys had gotten stuck on the rubber cap that covers the tube that feeds the wire to the assembly. The rubber cap was still stuck in the pulley. I guess I was lucky! Thanks to all who posted. I hope I didn't waste your time. --D--
  2. Actually, I don't have a tachometer in my Brighton. That makes it pretty tough to answer your first question, but it seems to reach a certain level and stay there. As for the second question: Yes, it does this even after it's at normal operating temp.
  3. Help! My Legacy is revving up when it is in neutral or when I put the clutch in to shift gears. When I've got it in gear, it seems fine. This started two days ago when the temp. in Duluth went sub-zero! Something stuck? I appreciate any advice you can offer.
  4. Thanks for the input. I just ordered some speakers, we'll see how it works out.--D--
  5. I'm looking to buy and install some new front speakers in my 99 Legacy Brighton. I'm just wondering if I'll need to get shallow mount speakers or can I get regular 6.5s? My car has manual windows if that makes a difference. Thanks --D--
  6. Is that a positive comment or a negative one? Thanks to all of you who responded to my questions. I appreciate the heads up on the head gasket issue. Is that something that the mechanic can diagnose upon inspection, or is it undetectable and inevitable?
  7. I'm going to purchase a 1998 Legacy GT sedan this week (117,000k), excellent condition. asking price is $5,200 I was hoping for some advice. What are some common problems to watch out for with this model? It performed very well in the test drive. The owner has recently had the timing belt, tires and CV boots replaced. She's never had any major problems with the car mechanically. I will be taking it in Tuesday for an inspection at the dealership before purchase. Any words of wisdom are welcome. Thanks--D--
