  1. cool thanks for the info. i have been talking to scott from subarubrat.com and he is helping with some good info aswell. does anyone know how that funky power steering works? it says that it is speed adaptive. i am just wondering how it knows the speed and if it will even work with the harness merge. if not i wonder if i could just swap the pump and pullys over from a normal ea82.

  2. I agree newer and better after market support. But the idea of an h6 is just hard to pass up. The cool factor is up there and worth some extra work. To my knowledge it is ea82 generation. Which should help in saving me some money for the tranny adapter. Not much but just one less thing. I'm not sure what to do about the radiator yet.

  3. ok guys im back. i finally got thet brat out of storage after 2 years and now time to go to work. my brat as i it stands has a 4inch lift on it. all else is stock. i was going to put the ej swap in it but i was at the junk yard the other day and found an xt6. the new goal is to put in the er27.

    goals.

    er27 engine

    turbo rx 5spd dr

xt6 breaks, axles, and 5 lug hubs

xt6 engine cradle with power steering.?

    harness merged by???

Any help and no how would be huge.

i think im going this weekend to rip that xt6 apart.

i read all i could on subarubrat.com but there is not a lot of info on the swap. just a few pics.

    thanks, nick

  4. how do you program an obd1 car's ecu? i know with my swap i just pluged in and flashed the ecu. i did use the ecu that when with the heads. if i were to swap the heads on the 2.5 with the 2.2 heads i would take all the wiring out of the 2.2 but it would need tuned. just not sure how its done or if its done the same. thanks

  5. ok i have been putting the project off forever but i am going to start working on it. i just finished swaping my 99lgt with a hybrid ej255 with ej20 heads sti cams headers tdo4 turbo full exhaust stock tranny with 07 push style clutch pp and fly 02 wrx ecu reflashed running 17psi... for now. so i have a car. now i need a truck. i have a lifted 86 brat. i also have the ej25d that i pulled out of the lgt. also i have an 85turbo rx with a badish motor. so last weekend i rolled the car over and yanked the nice 5speed with drive shaft and lsd diff all the disc breaks and hubs (for the 25 spline.) so this is where i am. does anyone know what probs im gonna run into with this tranny? i have not yanked the brat one yet so im not sure how close they are. thanks guys.

  6. if it is real bad and the axles are sound, then you blew the center diff in your transmission. It will be there, and be real bad under power, but still thumping when you push the clutch in.

I have had this happen twice, first to my Brat, then to my 84 Wagon. Good thing transmissions are fairly easy to change with 5 or 6 hours and a good jack..

let us know how it turns out..

it goes away as soon as i push in the clutch.

  7. so i went off roading yesterday and had a blast but now im putting out fires haha. on the way home i aquired i thunping noise in what i think is the front driverside. it didnt do it on the way there. only does it under power and in every gear. more so in the 3rd forth. also it comes and goes but pretty much is always there. it dosent click like a cv joint. did i cook it? when its bad it shakes the whole car/truck pretty bad.

  8. on the brat i bet it is different but the 4wd switch is in the center console. on mine the little clips that hold the plunger snapped off so the swith just lays in there and it will indicate 4wd. the switch needs to be pushed in to turn off the 4wd light. you could just tape it in and go with no 4wd but still low. or just super glue something to the end of the plunger so it will cut off sooner. again i have a brat so.

  9. going down the road my voltage will follow my rpms on my 86 brat. but somtimes it will work fine. is this the alternator or a voltage regulator? anyway if it is the alt i guess i would like to upgrade. i have seen people write on xt6 and gm. i think someday i would like a winch so. anyway just looking for advice and options thanx.

  10. my fuel pump went bad on the brat this week. i went to advanced to get a new one but it was $260 there are a lot of subarus at the local junk yard but all but on are ea82 and newer. not sure what my options are. also where would it be located on anything else. the brat was so easy to get it out. there is a sedan there i think its an 78ish. any and all info will help thanx guys.
