Engine light on after being low on oil.
Thanks to all of you who responded to my query. Fortunately, all I needed to do was to disconnect the battery for a few minutes and presto the CEL went away This is despite the fact that the guy at the AutoZone checked the computer and said it was a code P0420 (Catalytic Convert Operating below Threshold). P.S. I did make sure to add a quart of oil before any of this.

Engine light on after being low on oil.
Hello, My '96 Outback (167K miles) is leaking oil from where the oil pan meets the car. I wasn't monitoring it well recently and the "Check Engine Light" came on and stayed on. (Shouldn't I have received some kind of low oil warning?) 1) Is there a way to reset that?, and 2) Is there an easy/cheap way to stop the leak? (the local mechanic says that tightening the bolts is not a good idea). Thanks.

How do I restore a foggy headlight?
The headlights on my 1996 Outback have become quite foggy and am looking for a way to clean them so that I will be able to see better while driving in the dark. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Killer Body kit
dariusbd replied to Mugs's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXGuys - sorry for asking a dumb (and unrelated) question, but I've not posted on this site in a couple of years and cannot recall how to do it. Could someone please tell me where on the site I need to click to start a new post? Thanks

Bumper bummer...
While changing lanes, my 1996 Outback got rear-ended, resulting in one end of the rear bumper getting cracked and dented. The body shop tells me that attempting to reverse the dent will result in the bumper breaking. I find that hard to buy since it looks like one ought to be able to undo the dent just like one would a dent in the body of the car. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Thanks. d:)

Curious (temperature-related) problem!
dariusbd replied to dariusbd's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThanks Glen. That's really amazing that you would have the exact information that I was looking for! I have an unrelated question: If I were to click on "Post Reply" as opposed to "Reply" would my reply go to everyone on the board (as opposed to just you?). Thanks again.

Curious (temperature-related) problem!
dariusbd replied to dariusbd's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThanks Glen, while the other postings were definitely entertaining and appreciated, I have to give you the prize for the most useful reply. I have two follow-up questions: 1) Since I'm not familiar with how to get in the door, can you advise me on the matter or tell me if there's a way for me to access the relevant pages of the manual on line, and 2) are you pretty sure that upon getting inside the door I will in fact find that switch? Thanks a bunch

Curious (temperature-related) problem!
Hi Fellow Subaru owners. This is my first post and it is about a strange problem. The (original) remote locker on my 1996 Subaru Legacy Outback unlocks all four doors when the ambient temperature is below around 60-65 degrees F. So it works fine in the winters up here in Boston, but when it gets warmer, only the driver's door unlocks!! What could be going on? Cheers
