  1. Mostly, I'm betting it's a lousy ride. Most subies have a lot of road noise...I imagine the tires on this thing make it even worse. Knobby tires always do. RB
  2. It is not (repeat not) a CV joint, axle, wheel bearings, or transmission. We've spent the last 4 months replacing everything and the replacing it again. We've had transmission shops verify it isn't the transmission. I've replaced the rack and pinion, 1/2 axles (both), wheel bearings (driver's and passenger's sides), tie rods, suspension arm bushings, etc. While the wheels are on the ground, it makes the noise constantly. The faster I go, the faster it makes the noise. When we jack the front end up in the air it sounds like the gears are trying to catch on one side of the transaxle. So, does anyone know if there are bearings of any kind that can be replaced or is there something else that could be causing the noise?
  3. Yup, just noticed that. Things have changed since I was last here! I'm not done exploring, yet!

  6. I have an 84 Brat GL, manual, non-turbo. It is popping/thumping in the front in. What it is not...Axles, CV joints, wheel bearings, transmission. Is there replaceable bearings in the transaxle? Any other suggestions? I love my Brat. I miss my Brat. :-\ I've been driving a borrowed 1994 Plymouth Voyager. RB P.S. I'm not really a new user. It's just been a really long time since I've been to the board.
