This poor mechanic will either hate to see me or smile because he will be taking a vacation sooner than planned on the amount of money I could be spend on this car!! Is this true? I do not need a speed demon and am not expecting this, just one that acelerates on the freeway.

No, it is not an automatic transmission. It is a 5-speed stick shift. Some one once said that it could be the carburetor that is the problem. How about the fuel injector? Would another tune up and a fuel injector cleaning help if the carburetor? Also is that whistling sound at any way related to the actual pick up if it is a vacuum leak? I do not know much about a Subaru. I owned a Nissan pick up truck for almost 19 years and finally sold it last year.

Hi, Does anyone out there know why a car would not have any type of pick up? Even when tuned it runs okay for a while then goes back to bucking instead of going into gear and making a high-pitched whistling sound, especially upon shifting gears. The wagon runs so poorly that it feels like an absolute chore to drive it. The catalytic converter has also been changed. Any suggestions would be great.
