  1. Oh no, I'd much rather do it myself. I don't have a ton of experience, but I have changed things like the stereo, alternator, starter, headlight, etc. with little problem.
  2. Hello! This is my first virgin post (I have chimed in a few times on other peoples'). I must say the experience level on this board is amazing and I really appreciate the help everyone gives. Here's the thing: The light behind the AC buttons (not the actual air conditioner push button - the others that choose the vent paths, front defroster, etc.) and the gauge where you set hot/cold air, has been dead for a while, and I'd like to get in there and replace it. I've been told for a shop to do it it'll run upwards of $100 (for a bulb that's probably $2.) probably for the labor. Before I get the dash apart, anyone know what bulb it is so I can pick it up beforehand? Are there several? Is there a site I can use to look it up myself? Thanks in advance!
  3. Agreed, agreed, agreed. One of the things that drew me to Subaru in the late 90s was that they still maintained their own identity. A nice, classic design that wasn't shoehorning in all sorts of fobbish and gimicky accents. Now, I own a Legacy, not an Impreza, but I'll stick with the Legacy's 95-98 series over anything put out since. It's just a very elegant and attractively-proportioned car, and can't be mistaken for an Accord, Altima, Daewoo, etc. etc. Just my own $.02 opinion.
  4. I know you said non-Subaru, but let me offer this option... I use a licenced Subaru mechanic that has a mobile service and comes with a truck to you wherever you are to do repairs. He's an excellent service and charges about half of what a dealer would charge. I've been using his service for about 5 years and the people that recommended him to me had been using him years before that. I believe he lives in Morrison and drives all around the Denver metro area, including, I would think, Boulder. Here is his information: Steve's Mobile Automotive Service (Steve Bathauer) 303-697-5257 303-580-0208 (pager for emergencies only)
