  1.  Hi folks ,

        It has been a long time since I was on the USMB forum .It is that our cars are running very well. :)

        Now ,my buddy's 2000 legacy L needed a rear subframe replaced . It was done, and now he thinks that the rear upper front control arms  were accidently switched ...  lt for rt   and   rt for lt  .. because of bushing spacer is not where he remembers now . Does some one here have pictures of the rear suspension with the wheel off ?

                  Thank-you , ImprezaII

  2. Hi Folks ! We havebought a new to us , 2004 Legacy Wagon 2.5l with 85,000 KM . Anyway, since we had it , my wife has been complaining that is too cold then, it is too hot , then too cold ...only on the pass. side . We have a blanket in the car. Today I sat on the pass. side..... BRRRRR . Put my hand behind the glove box door . Cold air leaking from some kind of grille with foam under it. Now I called the dealer, and they said no there is "no cabin filter option , at all for this car with the VIN # " . But bring it in and we will look at it But before I go there , I bet some else here at USMB has run across this problem . So what is leaking ? And how to repair it? :confused: Thanks for your help :):)

  3. Vibration is ........................... gone.... :clap::clap:

    We loosened engine , trans mounts , pry barred the engine assembly , wiggled , and shook it , tightened it and now , it seems to have gone a away . Finally .

    :banana::banana:

    Thanks , Nipper , and for everyones ideas and help .

    This Forum has good ideas and reseach materials .

  4. We do not think the rear driveshaft is bad after all ,vibration is there between 25 mph 55 mph . The following is what we done , some at the subaru dealer , and they treated us very fair , and other parts at our local garage .

    We checked everything , with car on hoist....

    - took the drive shaft off on the rear .

    - pulled all the wheels off . roadforce balance each tire , meaning as they spin the wheel on the balancer , there is a roller pushing on the tire as the same time it is being balanced... :cool:

    - put fuse in FWD mode .

    - removed each front CV shaft one at a time .

    - removed each rear brakedrum one at a time .

    car off the hoist .....

    - checked engine performance re: sensors , timing , air fuel , plugs , wires , fuel filter , etc .

    - used different brand of fuel, just in case .

    Noticed something today, when I made a turn rather quickly on the snow covered road , the car went through the turn as if I had a big Chev Caprice. The car drove from the back and did not pull from the front . Is that normal ?

    Any thoughts ?? thanks.:confused:

    Well now , I noticed the Check engine light came on While driving . We checked , came on as Code P1101 neutral safety switch . Now I cleared the code but if it comes back , where is it on the auto trans and how can I check or replace it ? Does any one have pics of the switch or that area ? :-\

    Thanks

    P.S. checked the search mode did not see good pics .

  6. i find it really odd that 3 universals failed just when you put on your winter wheels.

    are you sure it is the universal joints? not the center carrier bearing? it doesn't matter much, you still need to replace, but ... just wondering.

    could driving over snow drifts or plowed snow mounds damage universals?

    I am begining to think the vibration / inbalance was there before , but in the snowstorm I was really pushing the car's limits and when the snow cleared away , it didn't feel as smooth as before .

  7. Bummer , no used driveshafts around this neck of the woods . Well , I have been checking with a U joint supplier , they said take the driveshaft off , measure with the micrometer , and see what they can supply and what I have to modify around the yokes . :)

    Maybe next week I'll get some time for that . Going to drive our Acclaim for now , don't want to damage our Imp any further.

    We had a snowstorm here lately Took the allseasons off . I wanted to try our new snow tires . Was out there and on the way home and to avoid some else's driving error, I had to accelerate hard in the snow , WOW , Really had traction , awesome , but the car developed a vibration after that , between 25 mph to 50 mph . Went to my tire shop , they checked tires , rebalance 3 , the 4th they changed , it had wheel hop or tramp. Still a vibration , but not as bad with the rebalancing of the tires .

    Today I took it for an oil change. My mechanic listened and found that we are in need of the 3 " U joints " in the Center driveshaft . Does any one know what the part # of the joint is ?

    The garage took the 2 piece center drive shaft off , and the joints are easy one way and really stiff the other . Bad . A phone call to the local driveshaft co. and they said 500$ :eek: and they would fix it .

    Going to see if a salvage yard has one.... any ideas ?

  9. We are using Bosch Icons on the Impreza , and Bosch microedges on our Acclaim .

    When the wipers on our cars are wiping , and you are possibly behind heavy truck traffic and the windshield seems to become hazy while they are wiping . We squirt a good amount of Sunlight dish soap or similar on the glass while it is raining . Cleans the glass and wipers really well and takes care of the smear .

    Now , lots of people like Rain X , and such , but for us the dishsoap works well . Plus it is cheaper...

    But , I think it comes down to personal choice and what's avaliable to you.
