I recently bought an alternator for my 81 brat at O'Reillys new for $40 you should be able to get an original cheaper than $80 if thats the route you decide to go

Do you know where that brat came from I am almost positive that it is one that I sold to a guy in New York about a year ago. If you could take pics of the interior I would be able to identify it also.

Hi, Been reading on this site for awhile now never introduced myself so here it is. I just moved to Reno, Nevada to study mechanical engineering at UNR. This is my daily driver a 1981 brat been working on it for 3 years now done most of the work myself.
Closest thing I have to a before pic but I've already done some work here including bumpers and getting it driveable
After this there was lots of rust I repaired and had a friend paint it for me.
Here it is at a car show where I got 3rd place people's choice
Then I wrecked it the day after the car show. A pic after i started repairing the damage.
This time i decided to paint it myself and here it is now being driven everday with some light trail wheeling.
That's where it is now future plans include an lsd and rear disc which i already have and maybe a weber.
And here is a link to more pics for anyone interested http://s1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff448/red81brat/

i was able to get mine to work by removing the old spring perch and welding it to the new strut then you have to cut 1 and a half coils off of the spring because it is way to long this will lower the car about half an inch and you will lose a lot of down travel but it seems to work fine for regular street driving
-
well my struts have the right part # for a gen 1 but don't fit
and no this is Brownsville in CA
-
I need new struts for my 81 brat and i bought the KYB struts but they don't fit has anybody found any others that do fit or modified this to make them fit
thanks for the help
