  1. thanks...one other question. say i go for the new battery and put it in. will a messed up alternator hurt a new battery? drain it? thanks
  2. unfortunately i spoke too soon last night when i said that my battery troubles were gone. i got my battery charged, it started twice since then, but when i went to start it this morning, it made the same rapid clicking noise that it made before i got the battery charged. i am guessing that the battery can't hold a charge cause it is too old? i heard i can get my alternator checked at napa. should i do that before getting a new battery? cables look o.k. any suggestions? thanks
  3. thanks to partsman and 86 subaru. battery problem posted last week is now fixed. what's better is that i am 2 for 2 with fixing problems i have had using the message board. my wallet and i thank you.
  4. last week i posted about how best to get a rusty muffler off, it worked, i was happy but, i had to jump the sooby the last few days, it made a fast clicking sound when i tried to start it. I got it running and drove it for awhile to charge up the battery. i just went out to try her again, but this time...a click and absolutely nothing, no sounds, no interior lights, no nothing. could this be a dead battery or something bigger?
  5. heat them up, like with a small blow torch??
  6. i've decided to go ahead with a self-muffler install, but some of the bolts connecting the pieces are seriously rusted (fused) together. any suggestions for loosening the bolts? am i silly to think a little wd-40 will do the trick? thanks
  7. recently bought a 92 loyale and would like to replace the muffler assembly myself. (just the assembly, not the front or rear exhaust pipe,) i know my way around basic mechanics, but nothing too fancy. is this job doable on my own? what do i do about any intense corrosion/rust i might find at the gasket between the rear pipe and the assembly? thanks
