  1. That's basically my plan =) I got some KBS coating stuff, which is almost the exact same as Por 15 (and all we have over here). I'm hoping tomorrow is a nice day and I can paint it. It's either been wet and rainy or too humid lately. Since it's waterproof, I'm hoping it protects the frame well, but using extra adhesive is a good idea to help keep the water out. Holes would definitely be a problem. Before I took the old windscreen out, I had to park the car facing down a slope otherwise it would leak. But then it got too bad and started leaking no matter what. Thanks for your replies. Hopefully if I stick with what I'm doing, it will work well.
  2. Thanks for the info. I took a look and found the drain holes, but I don't think the frame is draining properly. The lip at the bottom is too high, and not all the water is making it over. After a while the water builds up and spreads across the whole lower area of the frame and just sits there. I guess that is why the corners rusted out before. Is there any way to fix that? I'm wary about drilling holes because I don't know what's under it. I don't want to be draining water into the dash or anything.
  3. I pulled out my windscreen of my '88 L Wagon because of leaking issues and found a lot of rust, especially around the bottom corners. I sanded and wire brushed most of the rust off and patched up the corners. But now I'm worried I might have created a bigger problem, are there suppose to be drainage holes in the corners? There were jagged holes in the corners and I figured they were caused by the rust and patched over them. But now I'm thinking they could be the drainage holes, made worse by the rust. So, should I be drilling some new holes before the windscreen goes in?
  4. Ah, that's a good idea. I was just looking up quotes online, trying to find a better price then what I had before. None of them asked for a VIN but I'm sure they'll take one if I ring up. Thank you.
  5. eulogious: It was already registered when I bought it, all I had to do was transfer it into my name. Every time I've registered a car, I've just taken in the papers, with all the vehicle info on them, and renewed it. I don't know what happens when you register it for the first time but they probably do use the VIN. And it's right-hand drive, so wasn't imported from the states. Thanks. Bucky92: - December, 1988. - Duel Range 4WD - No power windows or locks. - No tach And thanks. I'm very happy with the looks too. I saw it on eBay, and when I went down for an inspection it actually looked better than their pictures, which is quite rare I think. shuff: I would just guess but I don't want to get the wrong one and the insurance agency find some loophole and not pay. It's only 3rd party, so it's not as important as with comprehensive. But I just don't trust insurance places. Speedwagon: The only LHD imports we have are flashy or classic cars. I imagine Britain gets both because they're so close to other countries that have RHD, like France.
  6. I know this is a silly question, but I have conflicting information. I bought the car a couple of weeks ago and it was listed as an L Series 4WD Wagon, and that's what it says on the engine plate - "Subaru L" - however the registration papers state that it's a Leone. I thought that maybe L was just short for Leone, or covered a range such as Leone and Loyale, so didn't worry about it. But when I tried to get insurance the other day, according to the insurance agencies I tried, no 4WD Wagon model exists for the Leone. The only ones I can find that match the rest of my car are the DL and GL models. So, I would like to know exactly what model my car is. The information I know - 1988, EA82 engine with carburetor, 5sp manual with 4wd. And here are some photos to help: One Two Three Thanks.
  7. So first up I'd like to say hi, since I'm new to the forums. New to Subarus too, just bought my first one, but I've heard good things and so far I'm very happy with it. It's an 1988 L Series/Loyale Wagon with dual range 4wd. Well it needs a couple of repairs, but I'm having some trouble finding the part numbers. I was hoping you guys could help.
