  1. Hey JLDT this is no help because I don't know what it is either, but my loyale is doing something similar. My whine happens at around 45 and stops then starts again around 55 then goes away. It might be the bearings. I don't know about a worn CV. My CV boots look fine. But that doesn't mean anything. Hope you figure it out. I will post any info I can.
  2. I just checked out the codes on my ECM and got #35. I see that it is for the PCS Valve. My idle is rough and I have some minor issues with acceleration. I have read some previous threads on how to troubleshoot this but must say I am still stumped on where to start. Should I just replace the valve, solonoid, or the canister. I can get the tools to do some electrical tests, but I need a little more info. Also I had trouble accessing the links here on USMB for PCS troubleshooting. Thanx.
  3. I know I am being anal about this but I won't sleep unless I do this. I made a nasty comment about the folks on Cardomain, and just wanted to say I'm sorry if anyone out there digs cardomain. I was just suprised by all the harsh competition that goes on over there. Here at USMB it seems everyone is pretty cool. I really don't want to piss anybody off. If I am being stupid fine, at least I cleaned my side of the Subaru.
  4. Hey there ryan. I just bought a 93 loyale. I am by no means a car expert. But all the research I have done before buying this car says that this is a common occurance with this year and model. I have read that people get the CEL light and take it to the dealer and nothing is wrong. That doesn't mean not to check the ECM for any codes. My loyale is giving me the same light, but it isn't on all the time. Not that, that means anything.
  5. What site did you go to to find this deal? I too am looking for some good exhaust parts. I will eventually need the whole thing. But I would like to start looking now.
  6. Thanks for the advice guys. I have posted another thread listing other possible problems with the vehicle. I will be inspecting the exhaust more thoroughly to find the leak. I will consider the home-grown fix its. Thanx again.
  7. Thanks for the info. I will have to look into the fuel system flush. Don't know how to do that. But I am sure I will be able to figure it out. I am going to look into the bearings first, as the source of the hum. I will check the vehicle records, I am not sure if the cv's have been serviced recently. Again thanks for the advice.
  8. Hey folks, I will try not to write endlessly about this. I just bought a '93 loyale. The body is in pretty good condition, not too much rust. I am suprised at how loud the engine is. I was changing the oil today and say that is had an EA82 stamped on the bottom of what I think is the cylinder head. Now I keep seeing people write how they are converting to this engine. Why? As the title of this thread states, I know nothing. The most mechanical I have gotten so far are breaks, oil changes, and spark plugs. I want to learn how to fix as much as possible on this car. Plus, I am broke. So much for not writting endlessly. Bear with me. I checked the exhaust, lots of rust, but on first inspection, no puffs. The noise happens mostly as I am accelerating. I sound like a harley when I hit 3000 rpm. Then as I am getting on the highway, I begin to hear a hum coming from what I expect are the tires or bearings? And the last thing I notice, is that it seems that the fuel pump, under the car, is whirling and whinning. Sorry I am yammering. But I have always wanted a Subaru and have always wanted to know how to work on one. I would greatly appreciate any advice or pointers. NOTE: This site rocks. Cardomain is filled with a lot of nasty dudes sucking up to much nitrous. Anyway Thanx
  9. I'm going to bed after this or I will be up all night. I think it might be the gaskets at the manifold, because it seems more like the spot where the noise is coming from. Also at high rpms the exhaust caseing rattles like crazy. So I am going to try and tight all that up. Thanks for the advice.
  10. Hey there 91 loyale. I just joined myself. I also just bought a 93 loyale wagon. I will be eager to hear about any discoveries or ideas you may have for your Subie. I got lucky, I hope, and it seems there is comparatively little rust. My loyale seems pretty noisy. How does your engine sound? Mine is pretty growlly. I have never owned a Subaru, and have only just started working on my cars myself recently, so I don't know what to expect. Anyway good luck with yours.
  11. Hey out there in USMB, just bought a '93 Loyale. I'm out here in W. Mass. I will be looking for as many tips, tricks and pointers as everyone is willing to give me. My ride has approx. 137,000 mi. on it. I have never owned a Subaru before. So I have no basis for comparison. Anyway, I am sure I will be talking to some of you out there soon.
