  1. now thats a good idea rope in the cylinder. what i ended up doing is taking a cheap long screw driver that fit in the hole and bend "90 degres" so it to fit in the holes on fly wheel and jam it in then put some vice grips to hold it in place, and put it in gear and held the break. i was not pulling the starter off i just could not find the bolts to take it off i was tired and its like 100 degrees here.
  2. Thanx for the info ill pull the cam sprockets off tomarow while im waiting for the T-belts to come in. one other thing when i was removeing the crank pully i put it in 5th gear and had my wife stand on the breaks hard. as i was doing this the clutch slipped it was not easy to slip "i almost pulled the car off the ramps doing it and the breaker bar had a nice bend in it so i had a lot of presher on it" is this a problem that the clutch slipped? it feels strong when driveing, it spinns tires in the grass. im just wondering why it slipped is this normal when removeing the crank pully?
  3. i realy hate to mess with the cam seals if they are not what is leaking. with my luck ill mess up the seal putting it in and it will leak.
  4. thanx for the reply. the car is a 92 loyale with 57k miles. im just hoping i can stop buying things i dont need like the oil seal i got today. i almost got the cam seal but waited till i got the cover off. now im probly looking at cam seals or valve cover gaskets. i just want to be shur befor i get any more parts.
  5. no one knows if its valve cover gasket or cam seals? i realy hate to take anything else apart till i know whats leaking.
  6. ok guys im uping a few pic's of the oil leak i have. at first i thought it was the oil pump or maybe the crankshaft or cam seals. i rip it apart and i cant find where the oil is leaking. it has light oil inside the T-belt cover but nothing like i thought it would be. so i sit and scratch my back side for a while. hm lets crawl under the car again just for fun and take some pic's low and behold i find the oil leaking where the timeing cover meets the heads and valve covers. how could i miss this i was under that car for 30 min taking the bolts off the cover and never saw it. just to make shur im not out of my mind what do you guys think? valve cover gaskets? or is the camshaft seals leaking some how out the back of the cover?
  7. never mind guys i found a new auto parts store that found the oil pump seal. atleast napa spent a few min on the phone looking for it then ordered it for me. advanced didnt even bother to call anyone.
  8. ill be doing the exact same thing tomarow to check the crankshaft seal. so i was looking at the book when i read the post. guys i sent him a pic from the book i think he has a stuck crank shaft sprocket not the v belt pully. one other thing to try other than prying it off is take a large socket and put it on the sprocket then hit it whith a hamer give it a good hit "but dont dent it not that hard" to lossent it up then try pulling it off by hand.
  9. ok i got a 92 loyale 4 or 5 month back and parked it till i had time to do the timeing belts. its at 57k. "i dont trust the belts they are all the original belts and cracking badly" i also wanted to fix the small oil leaks. the 1st one is the drain plug leaking. thats the easy one to fix. the 2nd leak is at the bottom of the timeing belt cover on the drivers side. so far i got most of the timeing cover off and can see its not leaking from the cam seals so its mostlikly the oil pump or the crank seal "the timeing belts are dry no oil on them". from what i can tell its been leaking for a long time buy the amount of old oil on the underside of the the car its a realy slow leak it dont even leave oil on drive way but it blows back on pipes and lightly smoaks some when driveing. also i see one drop of oil on the driver side of the head "it may be blowing back from timeing cover or the valve cover leaking its to hard to tell" well my main ? is what do i ask for when i go get the parts? i already stoped by auto parts store and they said they dont have any gaskets or seals for the oil pump. im not shur the guy knew what he was looking for he was brand new at the job. so far i know i need both Timeing belts and the other 2 drive belts. but im at a loss of what i need for the oil pump? as for the crankshaft seal ill take a look at it when i get the rest of the cover off but i dont think it is leaking or oil would be on the T-belts. can you guys think of anything else i need to replace and what i need for the oil pump? this is my 2nd subaru and its in way to good of condition not to fix every littel thing one small dent and one back window dont seat in the gasket good when closed and the oil leaks is all i can find wrong with the car, no rust at all. my last one was a junker 87 wagon with 160k on it when i sold it. i could not kill even when i drove it for 6 months with no radator. and i beat the hell out of it. the day i sold it i started looking for a new one to replace it. the only reason i got rid of it was i wanted 4x4 wagon it tock me 2 years to find this one subaru's dont sell realy well around here in moncs corner S.C i have seen 4 for sell in 2 years and they were junk or were not 4 wheel drive. any help at all is great
  10. send me your email ill scan the page out of the haynes book on removeing the sprockets. so i dont think its junk mail say what it is you need in message. rat@mangyrat.com here is what the haynes book says. the crankshaft pully shuld come off buy hand but if not use a screwdriver on each side of it to lever it off evenly.
