  1. Jacob It was fine at first but got steadily worse over a couple of weeks
  2. Jacob, We have pulled the transaxle back about 2 inches, this gave us enough room to get the clutch fork out. AI have had the car about 4 months and apart from the loose cable, it has been working fine.
  3. Hey, Ive had issues with the clutch cable being too loose, tentioned it all the way, then replaced the cable but this didnt fix it. I then pulled the transmission back (thanks to Twitch and General Disorder for their knowledge and thoughts:))to get a look at the clutch fork and it appears OK, I have pulled it out and can see no cracks or stress anywhere on the fork, the throwout bearing appears in good order also. What do you guys suggest is my next step in the fault finding process? Do I need to pull the clutch out, I have a receipt that says it was only installed two years ago, this seems rather young for a clutch to have problems. Apart from this the clutch has been really good never grabbing, no burning smells etc thanks for the assistance
  4. when you by a replacement clutch does the clutch fork come with it? And does the transaxle have to come out of the car or is there an easier way to do it?
  5. Hey guys, I was having issues puting the lever into gear properly, and I adjusted the clutch cable, this fixed the problem each time, but I found myself having to do this a few times over the next few weeks. Eventually I got to the end of the thread on the clutch cable. So i changed the cable. First problem came when I compared the old with the new cable, they were pretty much the same length, I perservered anyway and put the new cable in, suprise, surprise it did not fix the problem, I had to wind the new one all the way to the end of the thread. The clutch fork feels quie loose, is this normal? Can I adjust the clutch fork? the clutch plate itself is dry and looks in good repair. Any thoughts on what the problem is would be appreciated. Thanks
  6. Thanks for the info guys, I have lots of water in he oil, so I just assumed it would be the head gaskets. Is there any way to confirm whether its the manifold gaskets or the head gaskets. Also any other tips about doing this job would be great, as my only experience is with OHC Mazda engines. IS there on the web anywhere a procedure for replacing the head gaskets? Once again thanks guys!
  7. Hey guys, I need to replace the headgaskets in my Brat, question: Do I need to pull the engine out or is there enough clearance to pull the heads over the head studs? thanks
  8. Hey, I just bought an 89 Brat (we call them Brumbies here in Australia). When i engage 4wd Hi range the engine just revs and the gearbox does not engage, when i engage Lo range everything works fine. Anyone have any ideas what I can do to fix this? Thanks in advance
