  5. well the heater core tubing is hot almost burned my fingers LOL so i know the core isn't bad lol, is it possible that the switch is bad??
  6. what exactly controls this valve, electric or vaccum? oddly enough it puts off just a HINT of warmth occasionally, not sure if that will help at all.
  7. Hey guys just thought i would get some opinions on why my heat ain't working. i have checked the obvious things and no help..i'm stumped, this is my first ea81 subaru i know little about the car, any help is appreciated..
  8. well guys n gal's i did it!!! best friggin trade of my life, im now the proud owner of a 1983 Subaru GL Sedan, and boy howdy what a trade it was, this car is rust free and imaculant inside and out, just needs some TLC and BAM one awsome lil shiney gem! P.S. pics to come.

  10. was just wonding what ya'll opinion is on trading an newer subaru for an old mint condition on.. i found on craigslist again a 1983 subaru and the guy is considering a trade for my 92 wagon 4x4. what are some opinions, are the older engines better or worse things i should look at.
  11. can you be more specific on the oil pump seals?? does anyone have part #'s i have no subie dealer near me so i'm using parts store parts LOL.. nearest dealer is in Tucson and well frankly i called them and they seemed like morons LOL
  12. well guys no need to fret none lol, my mechanic is going to remedy the speedo problem on monday as for the user name, i own 2 subaru justys back in waco tx an 1 runs others parts. both are 88 5spd FWD's i own 4 subie's total lol.
  13. is it common that the cam seals go out on ea82s? and is it also possible that if only the cam seals were done that it could cause the front crank seal to go out?? it uses a quart every 1200mi. help would be appreciated greatly
  14. i took my car to the shop today to have a clutch and axle put in it and speedo worked on the way to the shop and when it left the shop it no longer worked. the mechanic did all sorts of tests to determine the problem and determined "instrument cluster" was bad, the cable is good.. can anyone shed some light on that??
  15. it is the #1 cylinder that is bad i believe not 100% but about 90% sure thats the one.. it blows smoke period with oil cap off. would a compression test tell me?? if so what should the average # be for compression test on healthy engine?
  16. hey there i recently also purchased a 1992 Subaru Loyale 4x4 wagon myself with 148K on it for 900$, 2 major faults with it for that price were bad clutch, and bad passenger axle, one thing i was told it had also was a oil leak, little did i know that it coats the catalytic converter so it always looks like its on fire LOL but good thing is i only use about a quart every 1200mi or so, other than that i got one hell of a deal. i'm looking at 500$ for the install of clutch and axle at local mechanics shop... this is my 4th subaru (second ea82) and not one time in the life ive had them have they EVER left me stranded anywhere, with exception of running outta gas LOL, to say the least my last ea82 got me from colorado to arizona on a bad engine i will always stand by my subaru's! Good luck and Enjoy! P.S. They do most definatly have personalitys lol
  17. well sad to say i've already done the pcv system on it and it worked for about 20 or 30min then boom back to smoking and feeding off its self again.. its had a fresh tune up with everything... i don't know if i mentioned but awhile back i had a small instance with antifreeze and oil but it was quickly corrected.
  18. i have a 1993 Loyale Sedan FWD with 140,000 on it and i think its got a bad #1 cylinder because when u pull plug wire off it makes no dif in the way the car runs. its shooting oil up thru the intake and out the mass airflow area, tremendous blow by, but yet the dang car will run still, and sometimes it runs like a mofo, did i mention it smokes horribly.. i recently had a problem with the throttle body to intake gasket that seals the water in the deicer portion of the throttle body, the gasket blew and dumped water in the oil, luckly i caught it right as it happend, maybe 5 to 10min elapsed, time enough to try to drive it out of the garage, and realize something wasnt right and then back in.. could it be thats potentially what caused the #1 cylinder failure?? i'm open to ideas and suggestions... :clap:BTW i got a 900$ 1992 Loyale wagon 4wd to replace the dead 1993 for the time being, WHAT A BARGIN!!!!!
