  2. I have this Weber Carb I pulled off a 85 GL 4X4 and was wondering what the normally go for. It looks like it is in good shape. I was going to us it for my brat but wasn't sure if it would work. The 85 I pulled it off of was an OHC engine and my 83 brat is a pushrod. Any info would be great Vo
  3. I have an 85 4x4 Turbo wagon with a bad auto tranny. Can I convert it to a 5 d/r 4x4 tranny. Need to fix car and sell it. Or is it possible to rebuild the auto tranny myself or is that to much to do??? Vo
  4. Will give it a try, anything else I should check
  5. I got water in my distributor cap. I got it all dried out and now my brat is acting funnyg. My question is, do you think that I will need to let things dry out or will I need to buy new cables, cap, rotor, plugs? I am thinking the water might have messed something up. I went about a mile with my car just sputtering, before I found the water. Vo:banghead:
  6. She is only asking $600 for the car, I am hoping to get it for 400. There is a lot of interior that will need to be replaced. As for the tranny, I have a 5 speed tranny and could probably replace it. There is a little trace of smoke coming out the back, not much. She told me she had just done the tranny 3 years ago. Aslo she has replaced a lot of stuff on it, like starter, altenartor, hoses. I think it might be a good deal Thanks Victor
  7. I went and looked at this 85 GL turbo. There is one problem with it. The lady says the Auto Tranny is out. I tried to put it in gear and all it did was kind of whinn a little. What does that mean??? It won't move at all. It almost sounds like something is not engaging. What do I need to look for to see if the tranny is truely bad?? Also I had the car running and went to pull the dip stick out to check the oil. Well, the car wanted to die. Should I be worried about this or is this normal??? The engine sounds good, but just would like to have some advice if anyone can offer it. Thanks for your help Vo
  8. I have a lady offering me a 85 GL Turbo($600) the has a bad automatic Transmission. She thinks she was doing 70mph in 4x4 and didn't realize it. She then said she heard a spring break. Not sure what happened, this is what she said. My question is, I have a spare manual tranny that came out of a 85 GL non turbo, will I be able to make them work without to much trouble? Or will this turn out to be a bigger mess then I want to dive into? Vo I have dealt with tranny's before and know what I am somewhat doing. That is why the call us shade tree machanics~!!!!
  9. Got me a Weber Carb, but it came out of an 85 GL wagon(EA82). My question is will it work in my 83 GL Brat(EA81)???? Vo
  10. I made the mistake of pulling my Distributor out, without marking it. I am now can't find my repair manual, so i am pretty much screwed unless someone out there can help me out. Do I need to line up the markings on the fly wheel with the Distributor markings or is there another trick? MY ENGINE IS: 83 Brat Automatic 4X4 1.8. Any help or photos would be greatly appricated:confused:
