  1. Yes they’re different as a whole. The driveshaft is a two piece assembly. The rear half is the same for all EA82. The front half differs in length due to transmission length. The MT is shorter so an MT driveshaft front half is longer to make up that difference. Otherwise they’re the same.

Sometimes people say “driveshaft” and mean axle - if that’s the case those are interchangeable between the two but axles are turbo or non-turbo specific, but there are some benign axle variations even if they’re interchangeable.

Sorry, I probably should have said propeller shaft. I see how that could be confusing. I the transsmission side length make sense. Thank you for responding and answering my question.

  2. I am East of San Bernardino, East of Redlands, East of Mentone, off Hwy 38.

Last night coming back from town I hit a hard to see rock in the road and totally tore apart the right front wheel assembly - Swing arm tweaked, axel pulled apart, ball joint separated.

This may be ther end. I cannot fix this, not out here, not sure how I would even find a swing arm.

    Dude is this you?

Please search USMB for info on subject first, then ask questions. I'm assuming you are new.. great welcome! The search function is not great, but try it. You can find a lot by using Google and YouTube. Once you have gathered as much as you can, we are more than happy to offer advise. We have all been there. :-)

  4. I've read everywhere ya got to drill the heads off the security torque screw/star shaped.. and or cut a line across the screw head for a flathead screw driver then replace them with a regular fastener screw when re-installing..

I'm about to get into that rat race myself.. my key is a basically a chewed up then smoothed out popsicle stick.. can barley make out the numbers.. at times it falls out over bumps railroad crossings... I gots the 5spd so I need not kill it; )

Yes, super easy to remove to breakaway bolts. Use a dremel and it's cake! Make sure to reduce to diameter of the cutting wheel, so you dont cut into the top plate. Only takes small amount of pressure and bolts turn easy. I found a great resource for the wafers to rekey locks. They sell coded and and uncoded locks. It is best to call and confirm part numbers with them.

  5. 93 Loyale wagon manual

I'm rekeying all my locks on the car. The ignition lock is the only issue. I have removed the ignition from the column and now need to remove the barrel. I have researched(similar)barrel removal, and found that you need to put key in Acc postion and push the pin on the side and it should release. Now I should say that the like cylinders are Toyota... they look exactly like Subaru. Is there some trick to get it to release? I appreciate any help.

  6. I really want to try this with my loyale, so I can add HID. Grinding the glass flutes has been done, but it would be nice not to ruin original parts that are slowly disappearing every day. In the video they are going for original appearance with flutes. Not sure how you would delete the flutes, unless you used some kind of self leveling material on the inside to form a flat surface when casting. You could do a lot stuff with this material. Check it out...watcha think? *edited spelling *

  7. I have a 93 subaru loyale and the axle shaft bearing in the passenger side of the transmisson and was curious on how much work it is to replace the bearing and if any kind of special tools are required for the job. Any advice would be appreciated

You will hear crickets, when * you * just ask without researching. Google or YouTube will give you an idea.

    Hint:

  8. Is your catalytic converter old? You could loosen both sides of the exhaust just enough.... it will be loud but its worth checking. When mine went, I noticed that it started losening power over time, and then it bucked and died. It was hard to keep it going, gas to the floor.... barely made it out of traffic. The cat was glowing orange, so loosened the exhaust and drove it home. If you havent done yet, might be worth a try.
