I see. I'm sure I can figure out where to get the carb, but where do you get the adapter? also, I want the 32/36 DGEV carb right?

Looking to switch to a weber this summer can anyone point me in the right direction on where to get/order a kit? I live in washington state. Thanks.

So I need to get a harness?
I can't just cut the wires and hook them directly to the switches?
(Sorry about all the questions, Electrical/ wiring is not really my area)
Thank's

when i did mine i just pulled the dash apart a little bit and re routed the ign wiring from the steering colum to the dash, it was all long enough to reach with my setup...

ok, here's my revision, so upon further investigation one of the fans is actually working, its the fan on the passenger side of the vehicle, it is also the fan that turns on when the ac is on. when i was sitting parked in idle i had the acc switch off so there was no power to that fan, duh The other fan doesn't seem to be doing anything tho and this concerns me. does anyone know when the drivers side fan supposed to be working? i.e. is it only when its getting hot enough for it to warrant 2 fans? or is this supposed to kick on during normal operation?

was sitting in my gfs drive way last night idling for right around ten minutes waiting for my gf to come out of the house. i noticed her room mate doing the nasty with the window open when suddenly my view was obstructed by a huge cloud of steam billowing from under the hood of my subie (instant karma i guess). i shut the car off waited a few minutes and filled it back up with water and drove home fine. i got up this morning and popped the hood with engine running and neither of my electric fans are running! (1983 1.8l ea-81 ohv) where do i start?

Wouldnt a push button start be easier to steal?
harder to steal than a hanging ign switch =)

i think i figured it out! i believe it was a combination of a malfunctioning asv and the vacuum motor which controls the warm air induction wasn't ever opening. so i've disconnected the asv and the warm air hose and ill run it like that for a while to see if it helps...

On the EA81s they come out of the stupid spacer in between the exhaust and the head. you could just remove the spacers, but then the exhaust doesn't quite fit right onto the head (hits crossmember)
Instead, unthread the stainless tube where it goes into the box with the reed valve.
That's where you put the quarters.
Thanks! I'll do that. I just have a shop rag stuffed in the hose side right now!
-
i think there are 2 of them on the ea81s and they are threaded right?
-
no takers eh? well fine! i'll do it my damn self and drink all the beer!
-
anyone want to help me plug my asv's up? im in seattle but i could make my way up north no problem! i'll buy the beer and the quarters!
-
So How do I start to install the push start?
Must I take out the ignition and find the wires from there?
Thanks

when you take the plastic off of the steering column you will see a round switch with 5 wires soldered to the back of it that is screwed into the back of the ignition key switch. you just unscrew that, cut the wires and rout them to anywhere you want!

i just put a new air filter on about a month ago and its already full of staunch... looks like black sooty oily mumbo jumbo... and it infuriates me! anyway, could this be the EGR letting crankcase gasses up into the vacuum system? has anyone ever seen this before? my motor is an ea81 btw...

I've been thinking of doing the same thing, My gauges are in the stereo compartment. Do you know if it's hard to wire it to the glove box?
-439
the glove box isn't very deep so there might be some cutting involved. as far as the actual wiring goes, it's relatively simple all you have to do is grab you sodomy iron and start running some extensions over to your glove box. i have 2 6x9s in carpeted boxes for speakers so all i'll need to move is a couple of power lines but if you want to use the existing speakers in the car you can too...

Not bad. I'm doing an 84 GL wagon now and am thinking of shooting the entire thing matte black. Zap has a hatch on his website that is done that way and it looks awesome.
Yeah, im half tempted to do the whole thing except the roof matte black, but i want to keep the super cool pin-striping!:-\

shades baby
The futures so bright my soobies gotta wear shades lol!

i used photoshop to mock up the paint job i plan on doing on my next couple days off. this should reduce glare from the hood without increasing cab temperature.

83 4x4 wagon 1.8l Ea81
I'm getting a clunk from my front passenger side suspension when I go over bumps. It's also shuddering when there's a load on it, I.e. Up hill, quick acceleration, 4 wheel drive, but it does it in both 4x4 and 4x2 modes. It's stock height and the struts where replaced less than 8 months ago. Could it be that the mechanic who replaced the strut just didn't tighten everything down correctly? or does this sound like something else? A CV maybe?
-
that's nice and clean! I'm gonna do that to my ea81 w/hitachi just to make it easier to work on!
-
What you aught to do is put a loudspeaker on it! then you can just yell through it while yer rollin down the road! they'll know yer commin:lol:

TVV is closed below 59 degrees F, it opens from 59 to 95 degrees F and then closes again at temperatures exceeding 95 degrees F...
