Hey thanks! the 2.0 block is repairable but apparently its more expensive than getting another block that is already builtup.. yea we dont want to put the crank from the new engine to old 2.0.. i basicallywanted to know if its possible to even swap that and now that you mentioned the heads / wiring that definetly makes most sense, so that we dont run into problems with a newer version of the manifold system.. thanks again!

About 6 months ago, i brought a 1997 JDM Subaru Impreza STI Type-R (EJ20K) Stock 2.0 Turbo. Had an event and while doing timing on the track apparently the engine messedup, last week got the engine lowered and Bearing had detonated, messing the "crankshaft"... i was not able to find any similar engines for a while to replace the shortblock i needed, i decided to buy the whole entire rather than overhaul the one i have, i was offered an $800 2000 EJ25 2.5 Engine, which i think is from a Legacy (not sure - its my first impreza dont know much about all the PHASE I / II and weird names... ) anyway my mechanic said its not a simple swap, but is aware it is possible if they do some tricks and what not.. he wants to forge the pistons.. make some kind of small shaft in them for compression.. i was wondering if anyone can help me figure out what is the best solution, if this is even possible and if there's anything i should tell my friend.. i would really appreaciate it!
