Biggest tires i can run on my stock 96' legacy?
This is strictly a trail rig, it was a car i got for free due to it being rolled a few times, so im just making a beater. however i would still like some low end. How bad will it be?

Biggest tires i can run on my stock 96' legacy?
Im wondering what the biggest tires i can run on my stock-geared 96' legacy. Its got an ej22, manual 5 spd. Im cutting the fenders, i lifted it 2", and am planning on wheel spacers. i already bought 15" rims and i was planning on running some 235/75/r15's, or some 31x10.5 a/t's i have from my truck. But im not sure if i'll have any torque left. Anyone have experience? besides a D/R swap, is there anything i can do? do other subies have lower geared diff's i can swap in?

Whatsup, 1996 legacy wagon trail rig project underway.
I saw your thread, looks great. I have my first question, is there any way to gear these suby diff's down? Or the trannys? i'd like to gear it way down so i can run big tires without loosing low end, because theres trails that ill want to crawl on.

Lift 96 Subaru legacy outback
I just did a simple 2" lift on a 96' legacy, i made some 2" strut spacers, worked good although if this is a daily driver im not sure i would do it. If its just something for off-road i wouldnt worry. You can also do a body lift, or simply sawzall/hammer the the fenders until the tires fit.

Whatsup, 1996 legacy wagon trail rig project underway.
Hello everyone, I just signed up to share my project, and hopefully get some tips along the way. My friend rolled his 96' legacy wagon a few weeks back, and since he only had liability on it he gave it to me. The roof is smashed and glass is broken, but the drive train is solid and it runs great. Its got a 5spd, and good clutch, 185k. My plans are to simply sawzall the hell out of the fenders to fit some 235/75 r15 bfg trail makers that i got for free. I also did a 2" strut lift. I'm a decent welder, and can generally fabricate half decent parts, i have access to a machine shop in school, so i should hopefully be able to do everything cheap. Besides cutting the fenders out to fit the tires, i also plan on making a nice brush guard, a good skid plate system, snorkel possibly, lincoln locker in the rear, and possibly re-gear for the bigger tires if possible. Any pointers or ideas would be great, im sure i'll have quite a few questions once i start to get deeper into this project.
