Tom, you jackass! The conn rod didn't shatter! What happened is the guy I bought it from spun a rod bearing, and I think he may have driven it home afterwards. I pulled the oil pan and found chunks of piston skirt. It doesn't appear to the naked eye to have any damage to the cylinder or crank, but I'm sure a crank polish and a cylinder hone would be at least required.
