When trying to fix my right rear wheel bearing I managed to mess mine up so bad that we had to replace the entire knuckle, getting the castle nut off was only half the challenge, I also completely obliterated the roll pin, though a previous owner seems to have lodged it stuck in the first place Thank the stars we had an entire spare parts car!

Intermittently soaking them with pblast and having a lot of patience is what worked for me. Even then I still managed to break one of the studs off (while removing the cylinder for refurbishing), now both of my rear cylinders are held on by just one stud Replacing them would have to be my favorite option, then you could have some peace of mind to go with your salad. When I took my climate controls apart to grease up the mechanisms, I noticed that the plastic vent tube that connected the two main vents to the rest of the system was disconnected and sagging a bit. It wouldn't rest in place correctly, it seemed there was some insulation that held it in place at one point and simply disintegrated over time, so I had to use zip ties. Works great now! Here's a picture (unrelated vehicle) of what I'm trying to explain, notice the foam rim around the opening, it's exactly what's come undone in your situation, I'm sure. Hope this helps!

This is really, really silly but are you sure there aren't child locks that were engaged somehow? I only recently discovered my car even had that feature.

I sure hope this helps! It was on the underside of the hood of my '82 GL.

The tube to the right of the picture is input, comes from the firewall, the tube on the left is output straight to the carb, the tube coming out of the top splits off down below the separator. One of these tubes then leads back into the firewall under the spare tyre, and the other to the carb, from which I can only assume to the canister, but am not able to tell without taking off the air cleaner. It's getting dark so if you need I can find out for sure in the morning.

Resistors limit the flow of electricity. There is a resister per fan setting (from from low to just before high), each setting allows more power to the fan to increase speed until you turn it to high, which bypasses the resistors and delivers full current to the fan.

Hi there, the name's Cal. I'm 23 and am the proud owner of a recently acquired 82 GL Wagon 4x4 in amazing condition. Rear-ended a Lincoln with my '95 Honda Prelude (first accident ever ) and found the Starship shortly after. I've been working on it with the help and expertise of STI_Wolf (he got me into Subarus to begin with, has taught me so very much, and without him I would be in a world of frustration and hurt). A week into ownership the transmission seized into 3rd gear (previous owner apparently let it run dry, and it was my own fault for not checking it). We were able to install a replacement featuring the most buttery-smooth linkage I've ever experienced, and also replaced the clutch. It's definitely become my main project, I have plenty things to work on, and I'm very thankful that such a wonderful support group exists! You'll most definitely be hearing from me often. I am about to attempt a dual rear-wheel-bearing replacement on an '82 GL 4x4. From what I gather, having this tool would greatly reduce unhappy killy-thoughts during the operation. I am in the Seattle area and am willing to travel a bit if necessary. Will purchase the tool from you if that is preferred. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
