Carb cleaner is a petroleum based solvent. Brake parts cleaner is denatured alcohol.

I am surprised that nobody has suggested checking the fuel pressure. it might be low allowing it to start and that's about it.

I would definitely replace your transfer clutch solenoid. Its in the tail-shaft of the transmission and it should come with a small-valve body too.
