I just bought a few dewalt 18v impact drivers and I love them. I have the dw059 1/2" 300 ft lbs And the 3/8 145 ft lbs And the 1/4 135 ft lbs I love them they work just a well as the pnematic impacts that I've used except there is still nothing quite like a 1/2" air impact. Battery life is good a can do several jobs before rechaging The warranty is awsome the tools and batteries have a 3year warrenty and a 1 year of free maintenec I am a mobile operation and these have been a life saver for time and productivity I've noticed the 3/8 impacts are getting popular on the hotrod shows. I think that with the technology changing more and more people wi…

So I have a 1997 Impreza outback sport that had a 2.2l in it. I swapped that for a 2.5l out of a 2000 outback and did my best to Frankenstein the harnesses together to get the engine to work. The research I had done previously said that an EJ22 ECU will run an EJ25. So I'm wondering if anyone can help me out if you have any information that may help. I did check and the engine seems to be getting fuel, air, and spark although I'm still unsure about the wiring on the IAC valve.

I assume no one looks at this subforum and I’ll ask my local welding supplier. But how do you get a small heating flame for rusty parts in tight places? When I’m torching a ball joint bolt the blue focused flame licks up into orange tentacles up the knuckle and catches ball joint boots and sway bar links on fire and risks the CV joints. Now I’m looking at some Tribeca rear control arms with bolts way up under the vehicle I’d rather not see wild flame-age. Am I using too big of a rosebud ? I don’t know the size. Can they make real small heating circles?

This is not a post asking whether or not this swap is worth it, it's too late for me. I've already grabbed the engine from an 04 LL Bean and put it in the car, using it's original manual 5 SPD. I'm obviously running into the number of common issues with this swap, and would appreciate some help. Don't feel the need to answer every question, every bit helps. I can work through most of the pinouts slowly, but want to know if some things are entirely futile in my effort to get rid of CELs. It'll start with a bypass and run alright without the TCU in, but sometimes misfire with the TCU connected. I'm guessing this is because the transmission speed sensor is disconnected,…

Driving my Outback home from Midas on Tuesday (1/18/22) the car died coming over a hill and wouldn’t start back up. Towed it back to Midas where they checked the timing belt and drained the oil which had metal shavings. Midas doesn’t want to open it up to investigate. They say they are capable and equipped, but they no longer do that kind of work. I realize that there’s a 95% chance the engine is toast. Before I replace the engine I need to open it up and find out what happened. Could they have done something when replacing the oil pan gasket that could have caused it to seize up? on December 23rd they had changed the timing belt (and cam shaft seal), b…

I'm going to need to replace the engine on my '99 Legacy Outback wagon. Reading up on it, it looks like the '99 EJ25D factory hybrid one-off. Should I be looking to replace it with the same engine? What are my best options? I'm not looking to do any street racing. I want a reliable commuter car and to be able to make it into the mountains and back.

Have a 97 legacy with a 3.90 final drive, need a new tranny. Have the option of getting a 97 Impreza transmission. The question here is, both have 3.90 final drive. All the gears are a bit shorter ,The one Impreza has a 3.333 fifth gear, while mine has a 3.416. The difference being the 1.8l Impreza vs. the 2.2l Impreza had different transmissions. The 1.8l has all the same ratios as my legacy, the 2.2l has shorter gears. What if any difference would it make putting that transmission in my legacy.

So there's this hex stopper where a hose needs to go if I were to put in an oil cooler. I have one from my stock usdm engine that I'm trying to swap over but the stopper requires a 14mm hex to take it off it seems but when I went to take it off it stripped and is practically a circle now. I've been looking online to find a solution or a lm extraction tool to take it out but haven't been able to find the right size. Help?

I'm looking for some education on welders so I can find one that'll meet my needs. I'm decent with flux-core mig, but I need something better. I've been looking at TIG welders, but don't know what to look for. I found a fan cooled inverter welder on craigslist, but is that what I want? It's the THERMAL ARC 95S Inverter welder. I know with the fan cooled ones there's something about duty cycle, but what exactly does that mean? Does it mean it needs to "take a break" to not overheat? And what about being inverter? Seems I've heard mixed stuff about those. Thanks for any input

Hi all My 97 Legacy II interior is pretty mint, except for the stubborn remains of glue left over after I removed some awful aftermarket ‘wood effect’ trim which was peeling/falling off my dashboard. why do people have to do that with the cheapest sh.. available? I am left with crusty remains around the centre console and dash air vents. I tried wd40 first (gentle softening) - no good I moved on to 90 alcohol - no good petrol - still no luck / worried about dissolving plastic Acetone dissolves the plastic (I now have a fine polished section of one air vent surround, still with crusty remains. other than sanding and really ruining my…

Hello, I have a situation with 2009 Impreza, 130,000+- miles. The car was in the shop to replace right front wheel bearing, while completing this is was suggested to replace serpentine and ac belts so we agreed to have these completed also. When the car was picked up, less than 15 minutes of driving (about 35mph with AC on) the car was acting strange and stalled out at a stop light. Car restarted, drove about 1 mile, all systems shut down, smoke coming out from under the hood, car pulled over and turned off. First thought was one of the belts was not installed correctly however when tow truck came and checked under the hood, both belts are intact. They noticed that the …

My dealership changed owners and the new subaru dealership owner has a recommended service that says to reblance the tires and 4 wheel alignment every 15000 miles. The have this attached to every service receipt and if you didnt do this, they will send an email saying that I must have overlooked this and I need to do it right away. I find nothing in Subaru factory manuals that recommends this. This dealership has been good for a lot of years but this bothers me. Time to look for another dealer?

I am in dire need of some knowledge regarding my 1998 Subaru outback legacy. I am new and learning as I go when doing my tlc for my lovely loyal Subaru. Recently things went from bad to worse when I started smelling that burning overheating smell from under the hood. My neighborhood backyard mechanic tried assisting Me by pointing out there was a crack where the hose attached is up to buy the radiator to Erie fastened to the clamps and try to pull the hose closer with no luck it started getting worse real quick then it started overheating drastically fast without even going very far please help me

So I finally broke down and bought a battery Milwaukee impact gun. Seems the technology is finally there to justify it. I bought a couple sockets that I needed right away, but plan to buy a decent set. I was at Northern and saw a $27 cheapo, and like a $70 one and an Ingersoll Rand set for $120. I'm thinking the IR is the way to go even though the price is high? Or is there some other name brand I should look for? Any idea what makes the expensive ones better than a cheap set?
