  1. hey guys after reading up on subaru i might have to add a turbo and an intercooler to my 2000 ej25. anyone know if the heads hold up and what else needed or cheaper way to get my hp?
  2. yeah im back to just finding a running 2.5 from a 00-04 outback.cheaper than machine shop rates and parts
  3. Ok today all timing marks line up , belt looks good no slack , all tensioners look good. so now what check crank and cam sensors?. the noise i first heard im assuming is bottom end damage
  4. ok guys i have a 3/4" impact gun on the harmonic balancer bolt and it wont move.is it reverse thread???
  5. ok im just heading out to do the teardown...off hand does the harmonic balance have to be removed to get al the timing covers off? thanks in advance so i can rent a puller .

  7. ok so just removing insp. cover is not enought then. ill need to remove the rad and all the timing cover to see if they are worn or broken ?
  8. took the timing belt inspection cover off looks fine and turns when engine turns over
  9. okay last spring my wife was driving it, it made a substantial noise and quit. we had it towed back, a few days later i tried firing it. it sounds like it wants to fire then no start and an occaisonal slapping (bang)sound.
  10. thanks guys..im a newbie to subaru and am learning ...ok the 96 ej 22 wont work in my 2000 outback so ill pull the 2.5 and tear it down to see whats wrong. i already have an add in the local classifieds for 2000-2004 ej 25 out of an outback or a baja...i heard the forester and impreza motors wont work./ anyway ill let ya know if it was wristpin or not. anyone want a low k ej 22 1996? cheap
  11. ok i was told the ej22 was a phase 2...my engine hgas a broken wristpin so unknown damage internally
  12. hello just bought a low k 96 yr ej22 to replace my broken 2.5. the 2.2 is an auto engine and the 2.5 is a 5 speed. will the flywheel work?what in your guys opinion will be my problems if any?

What did you "blow" on it? hey guy i broke a wristpin i can hear a rod slapping against the cylinder wall. the knock sensor cut the motor but its probably hooped.

Hey sorry for the confusion guys ! i found a 2001 ej25 from a manual car running with 180 thou on it for 400 bucks. now of course i want to do arp head studs and gaskets and maybe a timing belt b4 i slap it back in.anything else recomended when doing this swap ?motor mounts im guessing? also does anyone know if could have used a 2002 auto engine?it only had 92000 on it for 5oo bucks.
  15. ok thanks for that! im not going with the unknown engine.ill just rplace the stock 2.5 sohc motor. im assuming ill need one from a 5spd manual..or can the auto engines be used as well?
  16. hello i blew my engine (2.5) in my 2000 outback 5 spd. a freind has in his garage a dohc 2.2 litre year unknown. does anyone know if this is relativley easy swap and what some of the problems may be? also are the crankshafts different from a auto to a 5SPD? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED ! i will post a photo of this unknown year 2.2 l to see if anyone knows what yr it is thx.
