  1. thats a puzzler there it could be leaking from behind the torque converter that means rear main seal IIRC. the idle issue might try cleaning the maf and make sure you dont have any vacuum leaks

  2. i got the motor put in after replacing the rear main seal and bought a steel oil separator cover and its still leaking.could it be where the torque converter goes into tranny thats leaking?also when u crank it,it jumps to 4000 rpm and after 10 secs dies.please help

  3. right where the engine and trans goes together i am assuming you are talking about the bellhousing the only thing i can think of that would leak oil in that area is the "kidney" plate or inspection plate this is located behind the flywheel it will be either metal or plastic and is held on by a few screws they leak all the time on used motors and if the one on your engine is plastic it might be cracked if it is i might have an aluminum one i can sell you on the cheap. This is a simple fix but requires you to pull the engine then the flywheel and remove the kidney plate and use some good high temp silicone.

    Cheers R.

  4. ok i got everything switched over.fired up instantly but for sum reason rite where the engine and tranny go together its pourin out oil.ur help is greatly appreciated!

  5. Oh ok the hard line is for the EGR as long as the new motor uses the same harness plugs i dont thing you swill have a problem just running the 98 engine as it is. but if that is your problem you might need to swap the intake harness from the old motor onto the new one.

  6. problem is there is a hardline that goes from the intake to the head.the 98 motor has no opening for the line so thats y im so confused.now do i have to change the heads???

  7. you can just swap over your 97 intake onto the 98 engine and you should be good.

  8. my car is a 97 subaru legacy 2.2 L.auto trans.the motor i purchased came out of a 98 legacy standard.do i use the intake that came with the 98 motor?im lost as heck on this one.thanks for ur input

  9. Sounds like you have an intake for a '99 to '01 EJ22. It will not fit the older heads. They changed the head and intake completely in '99. Prior to that all EJ22E heads (90 to '98) use the same manifold. Either you got a phase-II EJ22 manifold or you got a DOHC manifold from an EJ25D - which will also not fit.

  10. well first i need the model and year of the car and what engine lol

  11. Im probably not the guy to ask pal....im really new to this stuff myself. I just know that if are gonna use a later motor than a 94 then you'll still need the complete intake from a 94 or older because of the wiring I think.

  12. i have 97 subaru legacy and i have intake ?its a ej22 automatic but the motor i bought is standard.so why is nothing matching up?please help.matching up as in the two different intakes?do the heads have to be changed as well???

  13. i need sum info on the ej22 intake, cud u assist me please?

  14. i need sum info bout swapping intakes on my ej22
