  1. I know it is an old thread, but I want to thank everyone who helped me get stuff done on this thread and a few others. The project has gone as far as it can go.....used it for a back-up driver this summer and it is running okay...it needs someone else to take it to the next level though. I have posted it on the Subarus for sale portion of this site. Please take a look if anyone is interested in a car mostly done. Robert
  2. Okay...my project is running....not well but running:banana:. There are some things I need to address. Having a lot of movement with the engine. The motor mounts are not adequate and are not perfectly there. I have heard of shimming this??? Was wondering if anyone had any pictures of how this looks. Also is there another motor mount that could work? There is a lot of lift in the front end when hardcore accelerating (laying serious rubber). Part of this is, the entire suspension is shot. Also the suspension is showing the 207k miles that the chassis has. I was wondering if I do replace the suspension all the way around, what should I put on there. It currently is not lifted and not slated for that until spring of next year and I just want to rod it around town for the next 6 months. So suggestions are welcome. The clutch is adequate for now, but I will definitely need a new clutch soon. I have seen lots of "xt6" clutches and they range so far in price. What is the best economy/performance option for this? In addition to this I of course had the front seal and oil pump seals go out in the first 20 mile trip. Of course these are a couple of the only seals I didn't replace when building the motor. Major lesson learned there, and now I know I can expect the rear main seal to blow soon too. Lesson learned....replace ALL seals while it is on an engine stand.
  3. My niece is having some issues with her suspension/steering column and is going to school in Vancouver BC. This is too far for us to come fix it. Does anyone know of or is a Subaru Mechanic that can take a look at her car and will be fair. She is a poor college student who just turned 21 and she needs a good break on finding someone that is quality. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
  4. WooHoo:banana::banana: Thanks GD for the advice. Rewired through the ECM....in the process found a broken wire and fixed it. Don't know which helped, but.......IT"S RUNNING!!!!! In fact laid down rubber in 2nd gear. DANG! Still have a bunch of stuff to clean up. The exhaust has a rattle that I need to correct. The suspension is toast and needs a sport suspension anyway. The brakes are a little squishy, but I have pads ready to go. But.....I think she is good to go! Thanks for the help everyone. I am sure I will have more questions, but for now I am reveling!...and revving! Next up. Suspension and getting the 14" pugs powder coated and put on....and getting all the tools out of it.lol
  5. Sorry Dan....didn't get your message til this morning. Hope your still in town. Sent you text. Thanks. GD...I will text you later today. Thanks
  6. Oh....and I would buy you a Six Pack of your favorite beer if you were to even take a look at it and give your opinion of what is needed still.
  7. GD....is it possible for you to call me and give me ten minutes of your time? It would make it so much easier for some back and forth conversation?
  8. If it was the ECU pulse, wouldn't it cut out immediately instead of sputtering out like it is doing? It was running before the swap, except for major headgasket issue. Gonna rent a QUALITY fuel gauge and test the pressure....it seems to possibly be a fuel pump issue.
  9. Got everything installed, and powered, ('92 EJ22 in an 85 GL-10) the engine will start and run for about 15 - 20 seconds and then dies. Throttle causes it to die quicker. I have the fuel pump relay powered directly off the ignition switch so the pump comes on and stays on in crank and run. I have checked all vacuum connections. Swapped out known good MAF, TPS, IAC, crank position sensor, tried 2 different ECU's and made sure that the ECU gets a start signal from the ign. switch, checked all grounds, and added some redundant grounds to be sure. I was able to keep it running for longer by spraying starting fluid into the air intake tube, but nothing else seems to be presenting itself as a problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. No....we stripped the harness....you supplied the adapter plate though! Getting it down to Corvallis might be a challenge though.
  11. I need a mechanic familiar with swaps. Okay....so I don't want to end up one of the guys who didn't finish his swap. The buddy that was doing a swap with me has to move out of state and cannot help me anymore and it is nearly done, but it is still beyond my skill level. The engine is in, along with the adapter plate and the engine side of the wiring compartment. It has even been started successfully. There are a bunch of loose ends though that need to be addressed. I have a list, but any mechanic would likely like to have a look at it for themselves. I do not have the deepest pockets, but have some dollars for this work. I cannot afford shop prices and any shop because of it being a bit of a frankenmotor would like not be interested in it anyway. I am in the Portland OR area and could have you do the work at my house or yours. I have some tools, but my buddy took all of his and cannot leave them. He is a professional mechanic. I have some things I would be willing to trade for this project as partial payment, such as a 2 ton engine hoist, A low mileage ej22 with fresh bolts and gasket kit as well as some personal stuff. Email me if you are interested in this project and I will call you to discuss. This car is so close I would hate to have to sell it at this stage and join the hall of shame.
  12. I have been a little too busy this week to deal with it, But I will check it out. Robert

  13. Do you know about how much it's going to weigh? And if ur near an airport that supports alaska airlines I might be able to get free shipping or atleast a damn good discount.

  14. Yeah...they are just sitting here....How would we get them to AK? Oh....I should mention that these pugs also come with 18 of the lug nuts (super rare)! Let me know after you check out some shipping possibilities.

    -Robert

  15. If you could hook me up with those rims that would be awsome. If your in AK even better. Let me know
