could someone please either direct me to where i can find subaru part numbers or give me the part number for the trim that surrounds the gauge cluster/air vents in a 89 XT?

we had the tank of premium in it so that wasnt it. i believe its an exhaust leak since its definitely loudest under the car. going to get a hose and listen to the area around where the exhaust seats against the heads and ill report back with my findings. thanks for the replies

89 xt makes a noise similar to tapping while it is accelerating. it doesnt sound like the typical lifter tap as it is quiet while the car is at idle and only presents itself under load. you can hear it persistently with the gas applied but when you press the clutch to shift it goes away until you apply more gas

why is it that the throttle sensor on the EA82 can be adjusted back and forth? is this so that you may rotate it within the bracket if its readings are above or below the specified resistance? and if i took it off do i have to read the resistance and adjust it or just stick it back on?

all right cool. ya thats the same setup. just didnt know if it had anything different about it. Im from the Honda side of the room lol. my h22 manifold is different because it has dual runners inside with one opereated by butterfly valves. didnt know if the xt had something similar

I appreciate the help. when we got the car everything including all panels visors seats etc was covered in ************ty velvet. the shifter was taken off and replaced by a walmart special shift knob with a velvet boot. the trunk was lined with velvet and the car had all of the other walmart specials including but not limited to. chrome vents, sony xplod radio (cheap one) and seat covers. and yes the seat covers were over the velvet already on the seats. taking the velvet out of the trunk i was like what the hell when i saw the ecu lol.

its a 4 cylinder MPFI. could you tell me what the spyder manifold is? and that would be great if you could tell me where to go for the Factory Service Manual on the site. I didnt know much about subarus but the XT is a unique car, many many interesting engineering features

My friend recently purchased a 1989 xt from a dealership. the car will not stay running on a cold start and has had a stumbling idle. after testing the fuel pump and changing the fuel filter we realized the fuel pressure regulator was blown and it was allowing a lot of gas into the vacuum line. thinking this may be the source of our problem we purchased a regulator from autozone. after getting the old one off the car we realized the two were completely different. the one that we bought from autozone was the same part number for all XTs from 85 to 89 and the one we took off the car looked just like the part for the 1991. so we ordered the FPR for the 91 XT but why is it that the 89 XT has a 91 Fuel pressure regulator? We carfaxed the VIN and its definitely an 89
