Loyale front won't pull but 4wd read does some
That was it. Thanks. The left front axle died as a result of improper torquing. It turns out that this torquing is a real issue on subys. Axle, boot, fluid for boot, some serious clean-up, and $196 later we are driving!

Loyale front won't pull but 4wd read does some
I'll check them tomorrow when I get the vehicle home. I have to do a U-Haul tow dolly deal to get it home.

Same performance in other gears.

Loyale front won't pull but 4wd read does some
Interesting. Had the CVs replaced a year plus ago. The folks doing the work did not fully tighten them and they finally made some noise. Had them tightened a month ago. Odd stuff. I don't doubt this is a possibility. Could it still be a tranny or transfer case?

Loyale front won't pull but 4wd read does some
I have a 1994 Loyale 4WD automatic. All of a sudden the car stopped forward motion while in 2WD. There was a clunking sound. I put the vehicle in 4WD and the car did move although it took higher RPMs to move it. Also, the tranny was ab out 1 quart low of Dexron fluid but adding the proper fluid did not change anything. Any thoughts? Oh yes, about three years ago I had the tranny rebuilt. HELP!

94 Loyale speedo error
Well the cable was fine after all. I did replace it anyway. No oil or whatever. The speedo is still grossly off. I think I am going to install a VDO 85 MPH electronic auto calibrating speedo on the dash.

1987 subaru waterpump problems
No shortcuts. You have to wind yourself out the way you came in. Be sure that pesty little tube that feeds the pump is seated, otherwise, you may have a small leak. Hopefully you'll remember which bolts went where and the right length. Sure are a lot of them to replace.

1987 subaru waterpump problems
As said in the other post, other things can cause the cooling issue. If you loosen the belts you can check to see it the WP wobbles. This is a tale tale sign that a WP is having issues. Often, the WP will leak, and surely that means a replacement is due. I replaced the WP on my 1994 Loyale (EA-82) engine. This project isn't for the faint. The WP is located under the timing belt cover. A lot of stuff has to come off to get to all the bolts. Give yourself a whole day for this one. Most important thing is to loosen the fan pulley while the belts are on it, otherwise, it is tough to loosen. On my Loyale I had A/C and that caused me to loosen and move alll that stuff.

Loyale: ignition wants to keep my key
After I reinstalled the instrument cluster I could not get the key out so I removed some plastic and pushed in on the solenoid to let the key out. After that it seemed to work OK. But alas, I had to do the solenoid trick again. What is the source of the problem? Could I epoxy the solenoid button in so that it can no longer offend me?

94 Loyale speedo error
I have new 165/80R13 tires that are properly inflated. These kind of errors are not tire related. When I had 185/70R13 the error were onlt slightly different that I now have. The problem must be (1) speedo cable, (2) speedo gear, (3) speedo -- aka instrument cluster, or (4) something in the transaxle.

groaning front end
I had my CVs replaced about three years ago including new boots. Thast sound you describe is now happening. What do you think?

Tire size is exact replacement. These error could never come from tires.

Water Pump DEAD! How much 2 repair?
I replaced my water pump after it started to leak. There was some play on the shaft. This is the main event if you replace it yourself. Give yourself a full day to do the job. The dealer wanted about $300 to do it for me. I did it but gosh what a job. The pump is down low inside the timing belt cover. Needless to say you have to remove a few items to get there. GOOD LUCK!

New Ball Joint On Loyale
What were the symptoms for the ball joint and bearings? My front-end clacks when I turn.

'94 Loyale Speedo error & a tad jumpy
Nope. Pulled the cable and it looks clean. Absolutely no oil from the transaxle in the cable.
