  1. Butterfly is just above, If i unscrew more the plate will jam in to the throat. I have removed the the idle switch and turned on the engine, then turned with a screw driver the switch. Idle pass from around 1200 to 2500 when I turn the switch so i consider the switch working and transfer properly the signal to the computer. I will check later today if IAC is working well, how the engine should react when I disconect it ? Throttle not closing- "Butterfly screw is just ABOVE the butterfly mechanical contact." An unmetered air or vacuum leak. CTS is telling the IAC to fast idle. A faulty IAC. A faulty idle switch or associated wiring. How does it idle w/the IAC disconnected?
  2. Hi, I have a 1994 EA82 installed on a VW bus and I have a problem with idle speed, maybe someone could help to find path of the problem. The idle is too fast, I don't have RPM but I would say around 1200rpm, here is the steps that I have validated * Butterfly screw is just above the butterfly mechanical contact. * Idle screw don't have any effect on the idle speed * Idle switch working I have performed the timing last week and I was able to adjust the idle by the screw at 750rpm for proper timing with test mode jumpers on. What else could overide the screw ? thanks for your input. Alex
  3. Its make sense for the HVAC canister, I have already cancelled the hoses buy I just want to be sure that I did not mess something. My engine guy told me the same thing about the oil, that could take several miles until the rings will take their place and seal properly the oil. Thanks again for the precious help ! Alex
  4. Another quick question, I remember to have removed a small white can connected to vaccum system, the can was white, big as a beer can. what is it for ?
  5. I have oil on both side, I will check pcv system Thanks
  6. Hi I just finalyse the installation of my 1992 EA82 on my VW bus and I have oil problem. At first I have installed a 35000 mile engine who was sitting on my garage floor since 15 years. After the first start the exhaust began to produce smoke, after exhaust removal I realise that the pipe was full of oil. So i decide to open the engine an see if one oil ring was failled. Piston ring was changed, cylinder honed, head grinded and valves guides and seals was changed. I have flushed the exhaust from oil, put back everything together and restarted the engine, after 2 minutes of running the smoke was back(a grey cloud).... Any idea of what could be the problem ? The exhaust port is black and oily, my oil level is good on dipstick. Since the engine is on VW bus the exhaust is short, but I have a CAT and a walker muffler, could it be the problem ?
  7. Hi In fact that is my problem, the timing belts are off so I cant time the cams vs the crank.
  8. Hi, I need help, I just finished the overhaul of a EA82 when I realize something was wrong. Since the engine is now installed on a VW Bus with a Kennedy adaptor I dont have flywheel timing reference anymore. So did someone have a idea how I could find the appropriate crank position, could I refer to Keyway on front pulley, or with top dead center ? I could I be sure to not be 180 deg off ? Thanks for help Alex
