  1. Hi, I have a 1998 Subaru Legacy outback, 2.5 When driving in town today I noticed it started to overheat. I pulled over and found that neither cooling fan in front of the radiator was working. I pulled the fuse cover under the hood and the fuse for the fan on the drivers side was blown. I replaced it and that fan worked. I looked under the dash and found the fuse for the passengers side fan was blown. I replaced that one and was on my way. I just got home from work and I popped the hood and neither fan was working. I checked the fuses and they were both blown again. Any ideas? What do these two fans have in common with each other that would blow both fuses? Thanks in advance!
  2. That's where I thought it was but I still I didn't see it there before. I will look again tonight. thanks
  3. I got the good ole CEC light, went to autozone and the code reads knock sensor. I can't seem to find the little bugger on my engine. Could someone give me a clue. 1998, 2.5 liter, Legacy Outback wagon. Thanks
  4. Thanks for the reply. Why would the tranny smell burnt at that mileage? Is there a known problem?
  5. I am going to look at a 2003 Subaru Legacy Sedan with 2.5L H4 tonight. It has 36000 miles and I think I can get it for about $12,000. What are the known problems to look for on this year of car? Thanks for your help
  6. Hi, can someone tel me how to clear the computer codes with out a scan tool on a 98 suby legacy outback? I have been having some issues with it hesitating and while working on it I got the cel on because I was messing with some of the sensors and now I may have to take it to the dealer and I dont want to mislead them and waste money on parts I don't need so I want to make sure the codes are gone. Thanks
  7. Maybe, but I think I might have got a slight smell of gas when it did this. I need to let it cool and see if I can get it to do it more. If it was a gas smell, what would make it run to rich?
  8. Did that, nothing, can't hear any vac. leaks or see anything that is cracked, etc. . It runs great other then that.
  9. I started suddenly. It happened again when my wife left work last night. I drove it last night and did several things to try to get it to do it again but it wouldn't. Today I drove it and it seems to only do it when the engine is cold. It fast idles fine, but maybe there is a problem when it switches from fast idle to normal idle. It only sputtered for a second this morning so it's hard to find. Any ideas?
  10. I have a 1998 Subaru wagon with a 2.5, it has 68000 miles. My wife drove it to work today and most of the time it was fine. But a few times when she was stopped, and would step on the gas a bit, it would die, or almost die. It would start right back up. It drives fine at highway speeds and has been perfect up unitl this morning. ANY ideas??? Thanks
  11. Hi All, I just bought a 2001 Suabru Outback Limited Sedan with 29000 miles on it and I am researching extended warranties. I have heard of a lot of companies out there that are tough to work with when it comes to claims. Anyone out here have any experiance or thoughts on this? Thanks
