  1. I definitely did not hook it up backwards. I was working on a very old battery that I've had to jump 8 or so times, so I have the procedure down pretty good. Not sure what made it go, perhaps I'll find out when I replace it.
  2. First, I apologize if this is a repeat message, but my wife and I had a vacation scheduled today. Last night my battery died in the cold. I tried to jump it, but it was dead. I replaced the battery this morning, and I now have power to the seats, security system remote entry, but the dashboard seems dead. No clock radio, no radio, no dome light. I do have power to the seats, power locks, and the remote key entry works to lock, unlock, and set the panic alarm. Any ideas? I briefly checked over the fuses to see if they were blown or not, didn't see anything - but I could have missed something. Is it possible the security system has locked something out? Did I fry something during the jump? -Zen
  3. So I get up Sunday morning to find my right turn signal on - not blinking - just on, whether the car is on or not. Anyone have this happen before? -Zb
  4. I don't think that it was one of my friends. We spent the next several hours coming up with scenarios. One of them was a case of mistaken identity. The BAJA is pretty rare in my area, but I've seen a couple in my color around. So maybe someone else's friend thought my car was their friends. Jealously, was another one we came up with. Unfortunately, I didn't keep the note or I would have framed it. And don't get me wrong on Woody Allen, I like some of his movies, not necessarily his personal life. Zen
  5. So I took the new wife in my BAJA to go see the movie "anything else" (We started liking Woody Allen after The Curse of the Jade Scorpion, this current movie is not nearly as good). Anyway, on the way out, I see a small leaflet under my window washer, and I'm thinking, "Great! Another one of those ads I used to get while at the movies." But on closer inspection, it was a hand written note on scrap paper. The note, written in purple ink and curvy/girlish writing, read: "Avalanche Wannabe, Your car is ugly and you suck." I thought it was funny, anyone else ever have something like that happen? These punkasses can leave all the notes they want as long as they don't scratch my paint! Is there a rivalry between the avalanche and baja that I am not privy too? Zen
  6. Hey Subie Gal, I really like your website. I was going to order a 6 pack of oil filters for my Baja, but the shipping came back as $19 for my zip. Other places were only charging $7 for S&H or less. Anyway, other than that, it looks great. Hopefully I can buy some accessories in the future. Zen
  7. After contacting SOA and opening a case on the clutch judder for the 2000 OBW, it doesn't look good. The warranty may cover the repair, but they need to strip the car down to see. That is the story they are feeding me. So I guess I have two options: 1) Live with it. 2) Gamble and repair it. Unfortunately, if I go for the gamble route, do I really want subaru replacement clutch if I'm paying for it? Or are there other clutch options that would be better? We're no racers, just grocery getters. But our driveway is a little dangerous pulling out, so the shudder if it acts up at the wrong time makes it a little worse pulling out. Zen
  8. Short Story - my wife bought a used '00 OBW last winter, and purchased ext warranty along with it. Noticed some clutch problems and took it to dealer #1. Nothing was found. We now go to dealer #2. During the rust recall, they diagnosed the clutch shudder problem. We gave them a copy of the TSB that ferret posted a while back. They called SOA on our behalf regarding the clutch. The car now has 45K miles on it. SOA may or may not cover the clutch repair. The dealer is telling us they need to strip the car down to determine if it will be covered or not. So a minimum charge of $200 just to take a look. If it isn't covered, the total bill is around $700. What do you guys think our chances of having this fully recovered is? Should we call SOA and open up a case on this. I believe she went to dealer#1 under the initial warranty, but not sure on this since the mileage was close when she bought it. Also, I'm not sure we have the paper trail from dealer#1 either. Zen (I was SonofJaqen on EZboard) I own an 03 BAJA, no problems so far.
