anyone have a carfax account
fostina1 replied to fostina1's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
she says i blew up her 82 camaro when we were dating 15 years ago, shes wanted a new one ever since and shes been sure to not let me forget about it. i dont really remember it that way, but that doesnt matter now lol. she bought it and it made her happy. i told her that the rims hypnotized her and that if the motor was sitting in the back seat she would still want it. i tried to talk sense into her and have her put all her money in the brat, but she wouldnt go for it. she cant stand it lol. im suprised she lets me park it in the driveway and not hid around back. -

i like that idea. are you just gonna put a bung in the crossover for the o2 sensor? i suppose any cheap-o muffler/glasspack will work. i havent decided if i want it loud or quiet yet lol... -

1985 brat, axles and exhaust questions
fostina1 posted a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
a little history of finding out what i have in the new member section: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=129642 from reading around it appears the EMPI are the axles of choice, both my boots are tore all the way around. im either going to just reboot them or buy EMPI's and save the originals and reboot them later. are these the right ones? http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/Subaru/Brat/EMPI_Axle/Axle_Assembly/1985/GL/4_Cyl_1-dot-8L/EMP805515.html?loc=Front%2C+Driver+And+Passenger+Side should i look somewhere else for a better price? suggestiosn? also -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- muffler shop just quoted me $700 for the whole system. seems crazy high to me. im going to take it to him this afternoon to see exactly what needs doing. what other subarus exhaust systems are the same as mine? maybe i could find something at a junkyard or something. he quoted $400 for just the front section with the cat. i found the whole thing on jc whitney for $125, and on rock auto for $160. that sounds alot more reasonable to me. on the back end he said $90 for muffler and $90 for resonator plus the pipe. member here Durania says i dont even need the cat, does it have an o2 sensor? what do i do with that if it does? i apparently violated the terms of service with photobucket, what do you guys use for hosting images? all help will be greatly appreciated. this is the first brat ive ever seen in person and i love it. -

how would i tell if its turbo. its an ea81 and 1985 and according to the wiki the turbo stopped in 84. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_EA_engine "EA-81T The EA-81T is not an official engine designation from Subaru. The "T" is used informally to refer to the turbocharged version of EA-81 engines that are equipped with a turbocharger and multi port fuel injection. Its automatic. The original owners warranty book calls it a gl. And all the registrations call it a bgl. Here's the dash. -

Back seats were just held down with a single lag nut each. I'm going to have to fix that. Old radio picks up all the radio stations, compared to my 02 ranger that only picks up one. Exaust/ leak, and the brush guardit came with is going to need some modifications to fit. Just spent about 3 hours cleaning it out. -
1985 I think. Starts right up, 152,000 miles. I love it.
