  1. Do you ever get the speedo popping back on or does it come on when you hit the trip while driving ? These were the symptoms I had.
  2. I had success, it was easy if you have small fingers.
  3. I don't think Ivan is having a problem losing customers, I think the local Subaru Dealer is having a problem losing customers to him !
  4. I have just tried the solder fix above, in my 99 outback, my speedo worked once in a while and came back on briefly if I held down the trip button. The post above explains in detail the fix for the speedometer. I followed it an in a hour was able to get my speedometer working again...a few screws, keep track of electrical and a small delicate but easy solder on the circuit board. It has been a couple weeks and the speedo works great.
  5. Hey, I just fixed mine using the info from another thread on this site. just took the dashboard apart as the thread said and fixed the circuit board with a little solder. Easy and it works again. The speedo that is. I attached a picture of the fix. The little blue wire is the fix as stated in the thread. The thread was called 99 speedo fix !
  6. Okay, so I have a Subaru legacy outback 99. My speedo was not working all the time. I read this post and decided to try the fix. Note: When I held the trip button my speedo would kick back on so I figured this fix would work. I pulled all apart on the dash like the thread say's and got to my speedo circuit board. I put solder as indicated to replace the ground. The wire needed was tiny and hard to come by at my house but I found one. I had to hold it using tweezers and a third hand was handy here. That all being said, I put it back together and Voila...it works again. Thanks for the original post John. max
