-
I moved here from new jersey, so im not sure of distances around here, but i live in Centralia

Ok the clunking stops when shifting a gear, does that cancel out it being a transmission problem?
-
its front wheel drive, but has 4x4, if its a cv or w/e can i dmg it more by driving it?
-
i cant hear it at the moment, but i had the hood up and pulled the accelerater alot and it sounds good, i only hear it when im in gear in motion
-
I did some testing on the way home, going about 15mph i put it in 3rd, it got higher and hollower, 4th even hollower, and 5th it sounded like a baseball card on a bike wheel

It litterally sounds like a fan hitting something, but its coming from idk right on the other side of the firewall

It's a 1985 Subaru Gl wagon, Recent work, i got instructions from a post and re-timed the belts, i doubt its the problem its been running fine for weeks, And the car is at normal temperature, oh the engine is a 1.8l i believe, And with increase of gas is dulls, but then gets louder when i back off the gas some, But stops all-together when the pedal is untouched, downshifting, or just idling.

You guys were great last time i had a problem, hopefully you can help me again, I'm getting a knocking, not sure where its from, But i can have it at an idol and rev it, and it sounds great, but when its in a gear, and i give it light gas, i get a pretty loud knocking.. Remember i don't know much so please explain in child terms lol

Thank you everyone, she's up and running again, First time timing an engine and belts, I gave it about 4 goes, and she would not start or even crank over, then i noticed that i never turned the right cam 180 degrees before timing the left belt, i did that and she started right up, Thank you everyone, WOOT, time to go cruisin again

Is there a way to "check" if the timing belts are off?
