  1. Called on one ej22 took the hour drive down there turned out to be an ej18. Drove an hour and a half north to look at another too questionable for the money. So still looking.
  2. I have a 2.5l engine 1996 legacy I want to swap the engine for a 2.2l does anyone know a place to find an engine in the San Francisco Bay Area that is not too expensive.
  3. Accually I was hit in the rear drivers side door and the rear drivers side quarter panel. When my boyfriend called salvage yards for parts they quoted like $700 for the two pieces (door and panel). I like the impreza but I dont like the modern round headlights I like the older style better. Thanks for all the comments.
  4. I had a 96 2.5l gt legacy that first had blown headgasket now has been in a car accident and insurance wants to total it out. I love subarus but would prefer not to have to deal with this whole headgasket thing again. I was hoping someone could tell me the difference in the vehicles with 2.2l engines ( besides the engine of course). especially the wagons I love the wagons! Thanks for any input.
  5. No it not backwards, my boyfriend and his dad ended up drilling 4= 5/32 holes in the thermostat and reinstalling it. So far 300 miles and no issues it maintains a steady temp and does not drop to nothing on the freeway.
  6. The bottom hose is barely warm when this happens. I don't know if it helps anything but I don't let it peg out at the H, I turn it off before it gets a chance to hit all the way, I don't know if that helps keep the motor from getting worse or not.
  7. I have a 1996 Subaru Legacy 2.5 L EJ25D that overheats when the thermostat is in place but doesn't when the thermostat is not in place. The coolant seems to be forced into the overflow tank and usually cool not hot, the upper hose running from the engine to the radiator is really hard and really really hot the radiator itself tends to be relatively cool. The thermostat is new and it is from Subaru the coolant is Subaru coolant, there is no smell of exhaust in the Coolant just sweet smelling like it's supposed to, and there are no bubbles in the overflow tank. However I can't seem to get more than 10 minutes away from the house without it overheating these days. Any and all suggestions are welcome thank you very much have a good day.
