  1. Yes, take advantage of your warrenty....no point messing with it. They can probably fix it within an hour or two. BTW, the subaru's are very "aftermarket radio" friendly. I just replaced the stock radio in my '04 forrester with an alpine unit which supports an additional ipod interface. Not only do I have better sound (yes, the difference IS noticable) but now I can use my ipod in the car and it works great!
  2. Well, here's a followup. The problem was due to the fender-bender. The muffer and tailpipe were messed up. Once it was fixed the noise went away. I just took the car in for it's 7500 mile checkup and it's working well.
  3. Nice looking car. You seem to have gotten good advice about what service should be done, the only thing I'd add is check the service manual to make sure that you've left nothing out. It also looks like a nice head unit you've chosen. Kenwood is certainly a good name in this area. I just replaced the head unit in my '04 Forrester (see 04 Forrester idling roughly) with an Alpine (I specifically chose alpine for the ipod connectivity it has comming out.) Once again, congrats on your new car.
  4. This is my first post here so I'd like to say "hello." I have a 2004 Forrester XS and it seems to be idling rough. It also seems to be idling low (< 1 on the rpm gage.) I should also point out that I was rear-ended Friday afternoon. It appears the damage may just be a scraped up rear bumper. I did notice that muffler/tailpipe isn't laying entirely strait. However, it doesn't appear to have been touched in the accident just looking at it. (I'm not a mechanic or adjuster.) I'm supposed to bring the car in on Saturday for it's first service (beyond a simple oil change.) Any ideas of what may be causing a rough/low idle on a relatively new car? Could the problem have any relationship to the rear-ending that I need to point out to the insurance adjuster when I meet with them later this week? Thanks!
