  3. Thanks Turbone cleaned it and as of yet can't seem to see the leak. Excellent it must be a real slow leak!
  4. Hi Suzam, yeah your right about the negative cable. One thing my bleemin alarm is connected to it (Dynatron) when I remove it the alarm goes off!! What do I do?
  5. Sorry everyone, just to add: - You need to remove the belt guard from the top first. I think you loosen the one 10mm-head bolt holding it to the power steering pump, and then when you loosen the first 12mm-head bolt Steve mentioned the guard will come off. - You should loosen the locking bolt that's holding the vertical bolt in place. It's the one facing the front of the car, and it also has a 12mm head I believe. If you don't do this the vertical bolt will back out without actually loosening the alternator.
  6. Thanks everyone for the great feedback! I received this from another nice guy by the name of Steve:) Cheers Steve! I thought I would paste it in just in case someone has a similar problem, the search engine should pull this up. Here it is! Disconnect the two plugs (assuming the same as USDM) off the top using hands and a 10mm. Loosen the 12mm horizontal bolt that holds the right side of the alternator to the brackets. Loosen the alternator by turning the 12mm vertical bolt which should bring the alternator down. Remove loose belt. Remove horizontal bolt you loosened earlier and the horizontal bolt on the adjuster that you moved to loosen the alternator belt. Reverse to instal. Cheers!!
  7. I am wanting to change my alternator (loud scrapping noises when I start her!) I have a Subaru Legacy RS (93) however I am not to sure how to go about the change? If anyone has any advice that would be great it looks like it would be a straight forward job!! Is this scrapping noise a result of the alternator (a couple of people have suggested it is? Cheers
  8. I'm 6'10" and have to drive with my head out the sun roof! You lucky shorty's!!
  9. Thanks hklaine I did a little reading around and found this from the Sales Department of Valentine 1: "No, I don't see us doing any laser jamming. We don't think they work well, based on the tests that we have done. There is a new generation of laser guns that these jammers don't cover. In addition, these new laser guns have a very nasty feature: a code pops up in the officer's laser gun if someone is trying to jam it. This is very bad news, since the officer can then pick you out and follow you for miles, waiting for you to make a mistake, or just harassing you". "Our two cents on this issue is to save your money. We jsut don't think that jammers---either laser or radar---are worth it". Pete Kaufman Sales Department
  10. Hi Inbox all cleared! I'm only new to USMB and I'm hooked!
  11. Thanks for clearing that up Warp3 at the moment they are one (if not the) of the best on the market and talked about here in NZ! Thanks JWX I'll have to do some more homework, thanks for your comments. Cheers
  12. Thanks for the feedback. Interesting to read that sometimes your've spoted the radar before the V1 has. Also the cop around the corner was interesting (good one V1). Cheers
  13. Has anyone ever received or heard of anyone receiving a traffic ticket whilst using a valentine 1 detector. I am just really curious of any detector and all the hype that surrounds this in New Zealand is quite unbelievable..
  14. Hi can anyone suggest how I could fix this little Oil leak? If someone could direct me to a link that has had the same prob that would be great. A step by step diagram would be perfect as I do not know much about my gem (YET!)! It doesn't seem like it would be very hard to fix&clean. http://groups.msn.com/ASubaru/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=2[/url] http://groups.msn.com/ASubaru/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=1 :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:
  15. Hi RallyRuss:brow: , well I was actually just wanting to read a bit more info on the make up of my car (recently purchased) to get a base of were everything is and so fourth. But while your asking..., when I start her she seems to make a irratating scrapping noise, this only happens mind you when I start her when she's cold then it won't happen until the following morning. Oh also there seems to be a little oil coming from just under the scoop of the turbo (is this under the intercooler???). I was actually wanting to dismantle her a little and have a looksee but she does purr and I've checked the fluids, oil etc and nothing seems out of the ordinary:confused: plus I don't want to touch what I don't know. But would still like to know you know. Thanks very much for that website and any advise would be good. Cheers:drunk:
  16. Hi, I am really impressed with this site and plan on visiting and interacting with members here. So a big Kia ora (Hi) from New Zealand !!! I am searching for a owners manual for a 1993 RS Legacy MT, EJ20 (Sports Sedan). If someone has access to an electronic version (via PDF or so forth) that would be really great. Anyway hope someone can help me out and I look forward to contributing in the near future. Cheers
