  1. It slowly started. You can drive at 45 nothing. Get up to 55 nothing. Then let off quick and you will here clicking and thumping. A little shaking in the wheel. And then it will go away. My wife drove it one day and said slowed down to go around a car and it made a clicking thumping sound real bad. It only does it once in a while. We been having cold temps. Below freezing. It slowly getting worse. I drove it last month when it was warm to work 25 mi trip one way at 65 to 70mph no problems except little clicks here and there. Typical cv clicking. Hope it is not the reman axle.
  2. I have a 92 loyale AT 103,000 2wd. When you get the car to 55 to 60 starts to get a vibration in the steering wheel when you let off the gas you will get a clicking or popping on the pass side and then you will feel movement in the steering wheel. kinda like when you run over grooves in the road and the steering wheel move around on you. Kind of scary. Clicks when you go around a left corner. CVs are proly shot. Changed the drivers side axle last year. Remanufactured axle. Hope this axle is not bad.IS THIS SAFE? Checked wheel nuts looked ok. It seems to be getting worse. What would cause the wheel to move like that?
  3. I have a 92 loyale 100,000mi 3sp a/t. While driving I have noticed this sound in the front end. I am driving say 55mph and let off the gas real slow you here a thumping sound or when you slowly press on the gas you here it. If you keep the gas pedal in one area it will do it. Does not do this when you apply the brakes or when you driving along normal speed. It seems to do it for a few seconds when you let off or get on the gas. Also last year put a new axel on drivers side. It seems to do it when Iam doing 65 and slow down to 55. thump thump thump and quits.
  4. The alt just put in 5 or 6 months ago. Its a rebuilt alt from the parts store. The factory radio that was in it when i bought didn't work so I went to the junk yard and found another factory radio and put in it. Sometime it will fire right up. Sound like alt is junk.
  5. This is an A/T, but what is up with the volts gauge?
  6. I have a 1992 loyale 100,000miles that won't start sometimes. When I first bought you would turn the key and it just would click like the battery was dead. So I put a new battery in it. Still did it. So I put a starter in it from a junkyard. Worked fine. Then the volts gauge was acting funny. So I put an altenator from advance auto in it and worked fine for a while. Now it is doing it again. If you keep jiggling the key it will click and eventally catch and start. But the volts gauge will be low. If you rev it up and couple times the gauge will go up to the normal position. Last night got in it and it clicked again so I jiggled the key and saw a couple puffs of smoke come out from under the steering wheel. Do I have a short or something else. Anyone ever had this problem. Never had these problems with my 84gl. $200 car get what you pay for:confused:
  7. Put an axle on my 92 loyale couple weeks ago. Put everything back together. Had to turn the brake piston to get pads on. So I took the car for a drive everything worked well brakes worked well. So couple days later took it for another spin, brakes worked fine until was almost home and pedal went almost to floor. Pumped the pedal again and it was fine. so I drove it a little more and It worked fine. Anybody had this problem.
  8. Just put new axle in 92 loyale.2wd Connected ball joint went on ok. Started to hook the tie rod back up, as i started to tighten the nut on the stub it got so far down then the whole stub started to spin with the nut. Any body ever had this problem. How do you solve this.
  9. Installing new axle in my 92 loyale 2wd. What all do I need to grease. And any other things I need to do know?
  10. I just did this yesterday. go to the parts store and get yourself a pickle bar. cost $10.00. Good for getting tie rod apart too. Looks like a big two prong fork. Wedge it in there ang get big hammer.
  11. I have a 92 loyale 100,000 3AT 2WD. I have had this car for 6months. Been hearing a noise in the front end off and on. Thought maybe brakes needed changed. Until yesterday:banghead: While driving to work it started to make the noise in the front and everytime i let off the gas It started to pull to the left. As I accelerated nothing and made a grinding sound. Got the car stopped put in it D R 2 and 1. Nothing but nasty grinding sound. Thats when I thought It was not tranny but axle. So while the car was being loaded on flatbed for the expensive tow. The driver said something fell out of the left front so I grabbed it and it was a washer that had the word OUT on it and a broken cotter pin. When I got it home I took off the driver side hubcab and out falls the Nut for the hub, cone washer and the other piece of the cotter pin. Now could this just be the nut was loose and just finally fell off? (Maybe thats where the noise was coming from) Or is the spline worn out? Or something else? Has anyone ever had this happen? Only paid $200 for it and is in good shape. Also had someone watch the axles when I put it in gear, drivers side spinning passenger side was not.
  12. THIS NOISE IS COMING FROM THE MIDDLE MAYBE THE LEFT HARD TO TELL AND THIS IS A 2WD. THIS IS JUST WHEN I AM LETTING OFF GAS. WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES IT STOPS OR PUT IN NEUTRAL. ALSO THIS CAR WAS DAMAGED IN THE BACK END. IT COASTED DOWN A HILL AND HIT A TELEPHONE POLE. PREVIOUS OWNER DID THIS. JACKED EACH SIDE UP AND WIGGLED THE WHEELS THE ARE TIGHT.
  13. I have a 92 subaru loyale 99,000miles a/t owned for 4 months now. The problem is that you get the car going 55 to 65mph then when you start to to let your foot off the gas to slow down you get this roaring sound. sort of like your running over a rumble strip or a rough stretch of highway. If you go around a bend while slowing down you dont hear it. Or if you shake the wheel back in forth you will here it quit and then come back. Also if you put the car in neutral it quits. It seems to do it when it rains or when it is wet out. Checked breaks and rotors seem fine. You dont hear it when you accelerate either. Anyone ever had this problem. Thanks djcracker
  14. I have a 92 loyale 97000mi 1.8l a/t. right after I bought the car had to put starter in car because sometimes the car would not roll over. It would click but if you jiggled the key it would start. After that it seemed to still do it like if you left headlights on. So had battery load checked it was bad. Put new one in everything seemed fine. (also when running the car with no lights on the volts gauge almost pegs out. With the lights on runs in the middle. Now new problem charge idiot light on, brake fluid light on. Parking brake light is lit. Has brake fluid, parking brake off andstarts fine when cold and volts gauge runs in the middle now. Has anyone had or have this problem sounds like alternator. My 84gl did something close to this and was alternator ,can i check codes. Maybe it was never the starter:confused: djcracker
