  1. steve, I have a 98 outback and recently this same problem started around 50k miles ... it happens once and a while and acts up every few weeks or so??? the trans doesn't give power to the move forward, it just revs like i'm not in gear? then it'll slowly go slipping into gear? then it'll drive fine for a week or so. sometimes it revs high and the car drives forward ok but it won't change into the next gear until it hit 5k rpm, then clunkc into the next gear? strange trans issues on my 98 outback. wish i knew what to do as the dealer just disregards any problems after they test drive it and the problem doesn't show itself... then the just flush it, charge me $100 and say, "seems fine WITH A FLUSH". A WEEK LATER, SMAE ISSUE! IDIOTS. they would cover it under the 60k mile warranty because they couldn't find anything wrong with it. problem still happens - every other week or so and i have 98k miles on it. does anyone know what this "reving" issue is with the trans not giving power and just rev'ing???
