  1. In Four Wheeler magazine they have a project Lexus that they used a custom cut piece of cutting board material. They explained that it was light, mildly flexable and worked better that metal since it let the rocks and other obsticles slide against it with little resistance. In the next months issue in one of the letters to the magazine they said that they were able to get a 4'x8'x1/2" sheet from a cabinet wholesale place for about $170.

Has anyone heard of this or even tried it?

  2. Looking for better handling for my 77 coupe. Does anyone have any info on any aftermarket performance parts that would apply? I recently got rid of a 99 chevy that I put Eiibach adjustable coilovers that made it handle great and only lowered it 1.25". This is my goal.

Also, is there anyone on this board that has swapped an ea-71 for an ej-22? I have the motor and the means but unfortunatly I haven't the time yet.

My sister entered a local radio contest and won this 1977 FFE. It has 80k miles on it, the a/c works and is " pimped out " with an overkill stereo and the like. The jelously is quelched by the fact that she is going to give it to my younger brother who is as big of subaru geek as me, and needs it.

  4. Got an 83 wagon thats stripped about 50% still has some good body parts and a supposedly good transmission. I also have an 85 ea82 wagon that runs and drives- needs front CVs and has the top chopped from the driver door pillar back. I was in the process of making a sand subaru and after house, job, new baby and a lifted brat project, etc...... I have no time. Oh yeah I've got several extra 5 spoke 13" 4bolt rims and tires too.

If you want to come and take, let me know.

I check my email every other week so please don't be offended if I don't reply quickly.

    Thanks.

  5. Check out KEP, Kennedy engineering products online. They make all kinds of adapters for just about every popular motor to adapt to VW. I would guess from the extensive list of adapters and the popularity of their products that if they don't have something that will work they could make it for you. Since they have adapter kits to swap subaru engines to VW it would not be a strech to do what you are trying.

  6. Just scored a ej22 motor and computer (w/40k miles) for free from a friends junk yard that's going out of buisness. I am going put it in my 85 lifted brat this summer. I was wondering if anyone out there who has done a ea81 to ej22 swap could share some pointers on any problems that you may have run into.

    Thanks,

    Jon

  7. Just got a ej22 and it's computer out of a 97 legacy. A friend of my family is closing his junkyard and I was able to score the two for free. The vechicle that this is going into is a lifted 85 brat. I was wondering if anyone out there who has done a ea-81 to ej22 swap has any pointers or stumbling blocks that they could share.

    thanks,

  8. Yes, welcome to the USMB

And did you hack the lid of your wagon?

From the front seats back it has no top. I removed all glass except for the windshield. The back doors and the bottom half of the hatchback door are welded shut and braced. It only has the front seats in it, no door panels, carpet etc.. The exhaust is a true dual strait thruough setup (no cat or muffler) that exits just in front of the rear wheels(sounds like a Japanese Zero). The idea of the car was " lighter and faster, everything else goes". So needless to say it's different. It was looking like a A1 bubba mobile at first but now looks like a bastardized military vehicle. Since it is a work in progress in hibernation for now, it resides on jacks under a blanket of several tarps on the side of my house. I'll post some pics as soon as I can.
