so your not gonna grab those rims? i might run down there to grab them.
-
yeah, i know those guys over there, thats one of those yards that you have to be there at the right time for anything good or it goes quick. were you gonna grab those wheels ? if so how much did he want for them?
mike
Well, as predicted, the car is toast. Fork loader tine through the back window and out the front didn't help. I stacked the rims to the side, they are 8spoke steel with chrome trim rings in nice shape. the set that were on the car don't have trim rings and are rusty. One black centercap with subaru's stars.Located in greenville NH FItchburg road auto recycling. If you need something, I may be able to go back omorrow and grab it, but it may have been run throught the crusher by then.

did you end up grabbing the rims??? where is this car located??
mike
I'm grabbing the rims, the rest might last a couple of days before it's toast. -
I would pull the engine and put it on an engine stand , much easier to torque the head bolts when it's out . You might want to replace the separator plate at the rear of the motor if it's black plastic

I was thinking that 50 bucks is fair, The thing is though is that shipping is really a problem with an item this big. its kinda bulky and id say it weighs a hund. or so lbs. whats your ideas on this?

Well, I didnt have anyone really interested in the 1'st gen roll bar so i ended up modifing it to fit my 86. I do have a high bar for a second gen as well , im not going to use that as the low one fit better for my 86. if your interested in it let me know, Its in good shape still , i actually was the only owner of it.
MIke
dlrallyx'r, just wondering if you are still interested in selling the roll bar?is it a high or low bar?i may be able to drive up.thanksJon

Ive never seen any thrown rods on ea engines, have seen a few on ej's-both 2.2 and 2.5- one with less than 20k on it. makes quite a mess-makes a good conversation piece on the wall of shame...

I have seen this once, 02 obw h6 drivers door , not sure what started the fire, but burned the door panel and wiring harness, and all switches (mirror and window/lock) but car did have heated mirrors. person caught it in time-still quite a mess.

#1- 3 bulbs in the hvac panel need replacement. 2 are the same and one is longer
#2- a 194 bulb needs replacement in the shifter console
#3 the room lite most likely is n/g -rec. checking with vom .
#4-the internal backlite displays in the radio are an internal part, not really a user servicable part, very common to see go bad, rec. replace tuner and cd as a set with a nice aftermarket unit.

I've just purchased a 1998 Legacy Outback 2.5L Auto. A whole bunch of lights inside the car don't work, so I was wondering if they are related and a know problem, or if I just have a lot of work to do.The following do not light:
1. The HVAC panel
2. Under the tranny shifter so you can see the P-N-D-2-1
3. The cabin light (checked the bulb - it looks ok)
4. This may not be related, but on the radio most lights for the controls light fine, but the little screens that show the radio station or track numbers don't light. I think this is some kind of Premier stereo system with both cassette and CD player in a double DIN format and the extra tweeters on the doors.
All the lights to the gagues on the dash work fine.
Anyone?
TIA.

I want..(cheap?)..price?
Not really sure what its worth, i bought it as a package deal, the only thing is shipping may be expensive due to being heavy/ bulky- its in New Hampshire.

I would like to know if anyone is looking for a 1st gen brat roll bar (pretty sure thats all it fits as it doesnt fit my 86). pretty much new, never put in a car. found this and a 2nd gen a few years ago in the attic of the shop, I would like to use it in my 86 brat but would need to cut/modify it to fit if noones interested in it,then thats the plan, but would hate to do this if anyone out here is looking for one. Its in decent shape, a little scratched up from being moved around alot but has most of the original paint. its the one that the two outer legs that go back to the wheel wells bolt on to the main hoop. If anyone needs a picture of it, let me know asap as I would like to get workin on it if there is no interest.
Thanks.
Mike.

Hey paul, i figured i'd read up on the trials and tribulations (sp?) of this brat, sure did cause quite the stir, hard to believe. Anyway, its home here in NH , no problems, and lots of interesting looks on the ride. Now, where the heck am i supposed to put it??? the ride home had many thoughts of what to start with, but I need to clear out some room to put it in the garage soon. anyway, talk to you later
Mike.
thanks again, Paul

It was a good time here last nite, i think we ended up with about a foot or more, woke up this morning and was raining. I think the street tires on the brat will need to be changed to snows or something more agressive.

Just got back from a fun ride out in the snow with the brat. This thing sure is lighter in the back than my dl wagon. seems to go anyway but straight, not that thats not fun all the time but the people around me get a bit nervous. Anyone running weight in the back to keep this down to a minimum or is it a free for all ?
Just wondering what the general public is doing besides alot of fishtailing.. woo hoo...
