When we move the 99 it makes loub banging sounds from the diff. If I dolly this thing is their any reason to pull the rear driveshaft because the diff is toast, and I'm pretty sore.

I was really afraid the intake from the 97 would need to be used, and not fit the 99, will all of the required 97 plugs plug into the 99 intake and block? Crank and cam sensors knock sensor injectors everything? Thank you very much for your help.

My daughter's 99 dohc at differential is coming apart, she has a 97 complete car with a bed engine, will the 99 phase 2 engine work in the 97 without to much difficulty? The engine looks the same but I've heard there are lots of differences. Thank you.

jay in oregon replied to Rooster2's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYep it works my Daughter says no more trans issues at all. I did find you can drain 1&1/2 gallons of a atf by taking off the screw on filter and letting it drain for around 20 minutes she only drained hers 2x and used about 3 gallons with the blue bottle of trans X. Thanks Rooster2

2.2 2.5
Mine is not a turbo, if I swap in another ej25 wont I be just having to replace head gaskets again in 100,000 miles, I just done like the idea of bieng in a car on the side of the road with steam billowing out, with the ej2.2 that seems less likely, the 99-00 2.2 swap will work without having computer issues? any 99-00? any best doner car better than another? thank you. 2.2 2.5
I have the same question, I looked around the site and found some answers but is there a specific cross refrence guide that could be found somewhere? I just bought a 2003 subaru Baja 5-speed I will replace my head gaskets myself eventually but am wanting to find the best doner car for a 2.2 swap I think I can find the right one if I just knew what to look for. I was going to start my own post but I guess i am forum illeterate couldn't find the new posts place. if there was a cross refrence guide it would make a good sticky. I spent an hour searching and had no luck, I thank you guys for shareing all of your knoledge. I will keep searching to figure out if my 2.5 can be made head gasket friendly. it really is a nice engine. Jay
