  1. The reason I'm asking this question is becouse of the lack of older gen. ECU over here, most of the ea82 that were sold here had carbs and the only ones who had an ECU were the xt turbo.

So the problem is that if I want to drop an ea82t insted of a carbed ea82, what are my options regarding the ECU? Its just that I'm having some trouble finding one.

    Can a n/a ea82 ECU do o.k for a ea82t?

  2. I know that my ea81 dual carbs does have a different cam/valves/heads - it has a 9.5 cr ratio (due to bigger valves), an hotter cam and a dual exhaust ports all stock from factory!

I don't know about the ea71 setup BUT I do know a few guys that did the swap over a regular stock ea71 without modifing the heads! I did see one of those engines on a dune buggy and it was a screemer! if you guys want I can try ask the guy about this swap and maybe even take some pics of it

  3. First I want to say that the USMB is one of the main keystones and the biggest lever of creating this group.

Second I want to thank in behalf of me and the rest of the group to all of you memmbers of this board who are enriching us with your tremendous knowledge, for your inspiration with your drive to improve and in your good will, but above all for your love to your cars!

The I.S.F.C first meeting was held on this last firday just outside Tel-Aviv.

The number of participants was about 25 people and about 15 cars ranged from a 84 glf coupe to a 03 Impreza STI.

I am attaching a link to some pictures of this gathering.

Any way more will come and any comments or tips will be greatlly appreciated.

  5. Those pictures of the cars that look familiar to you guys are labeled as "wish cars" or "I would have give my mother away for this car" titels.... , I remember when I first see SubaruBrat's Brat (even before the current mods) I almost wet my pants:o from joy. I couldn't belive you could do something like that to a Brat, so I showed the pictures of it to every one I could.

  6. Hey Rinat, by bow I'm guessing you mean a Rollbar...

Its not a problem at all, every metal framing workshop can do it in no time.

just try to avoid the 4x4 "specailist" workshops around, if they won't laught at you when they will hear it's for a Subaru they will charge you twice then the regular metal workshops.

    Hope it helped.

As for the digidash Brat...I never seen any, was it a dual head lights or a regular one head light DL type? although I think it's pretty easy to swap a DL type dash to a GL digidash... also, I never seen a non DL Brat in Israel.

I think 99% of the Brats sold in Israel were 2wd, People bought it not for the fun of it but for a reliable and a cheap work truck, in the last few years these cars have become a real hit for young kids as it is very common (cheap parts) and reliable and as some of you already know, the Gen2 Brat was sold over here from 81-94!!!

it is also one of the most wanted car by thiefs especially the 4wd (this is why we see so many of them in the desert with the Bedawin Nomads, Chef_Tim can tell you about it).

End of part 1... (got to go, BIG test tommorow) more to come!

Chef_Tim - how was the visit? too bad we didn't had the chance to meet.

  8. Well this post should has been due for a long time....

First of all! my name is Roi I'm from Israel and I'm 25 years old..

My passion for Subarus started from the time I was in the army - Me and my team were practicing some navagations out in the desert while driving an H1 Hummer.

After a while when we just finished a very long climb we heared a strange engine noice ;) ;) we looked down the hill and see a Brat full of Bedawin Nomads (some of them sitting on the back) starting to climb, I remember saying "NO WAY!" but as you probably all figure out YES way.

From that day on I knew I'm gonna have one of those...

The thing is that Israel is packed with Subarus especially Gen 2 and 3 (Israel was the second largest market for Subaru throughout the 80s), the reason for that is a bit long but very intresting and I'll write about it later on...

The reason I posted this thread now is that I'm starting to see more and more Israelis on the board and I want them to know that this is THE place to know all about Subarus and to tell their story.

Any way I hope this thread will catch on becouse there is ALOT more to tell and share.

    Roi

  9. Adam as for the taillight - I'm gonna check tommorow for prices but I'm pretty sure it's not a big issue. as I said, body parts are plentyful, so any request for a check up of any part you can just post or leave a message, just keep in mind that shipping can be a little steep.

  10. It's funny guys I'm here on the board for at least a year and a half and telling you all about subarus in Israel and I never got that many replays!! :)

Any way nice to meet you Rinat (see I knew she is a girl by her name!) I always love to see a Female drives a Brat in Israel and you should see the looks on people over here when they see my girlfriend drives my car! they are shocked

The intresting thing over here that for most parts especially body part we have it plentfully and cheap! also engine parts (I got a dual carb and exhaust ports ea81 engine + a spare dual manifold and carbs on it) and we have a special dealership that brings that stuff from Japan all the time!! the dealerships over here have special relationship (I hope I spelled it right ;) with the Japanis dealers!

Any way this is some pictures of my car and I'm gonna start a thread on the meet-greet area about the Subaru - Israel story

  11. I think this might be the source of your engine :

We had few of those here (Israel) and it's not that hard to still find one of those dual mnifold, most of those car owners later on switched to a regular manifold coz the dual was too complicated and high ment.

Those engines had a different specs (hotter cam and highr cr) then the stock 1600cc engines and still I know a guy who put this manifold on a regular ea71 Bugy and its unbelivable FAST!

More pics on the dual carbs engines:
