  1. I just removed the dash from my 96 Legacy and I am not sure about the next steps to replace the heater core. Does the steel bar running across the car have to come out next? Then, do you have to loosen or remove the blower fan and AC condensor to get at the heater core or can you access it directly? I bought volumes 1 and 2 of the service manual for a 95 Legacy (two big honking binders) on the web for $30 and that was a huge help in getting the dash out, but it does not detail the heater core replacement. Perhaps there is a volume 3... Thanks much for any help Bob
  2. I am researching engine swaps for my 96 Legacy wagon and have a few questions: I am going to remove my EJ22 engine and leave the 5 spd manual transmission in. The harmonic balancer worked its way loose and wiped out the keyway on the end of the crank!!! I would like to install a turbo motor and I am trying to figure out the available options before I start calling around looking for parts. I want to avoid the JDM stuff to keep it simple - and I don't need crazy power, just more than the NA engine. I have seen articles describing installing EJ20 engine from a WRX. The wiring harness work looks tough, but doable. If I use a Legacy turbo engine does that make the wiring simplier? If it makes it better, which turbo engine should I get? It looks like there was a 91-94 2.2L Turbo, which is older than I would want (it would have the wrong wiring harness), right? Then there is a EJ22T from 2002 to 2004 in the Legacy - I think that's what I would want. Is this engine significantly different than the WRX engine? Any other options? Thanks, Bob
