  1. Thanks for all the help. I actually took a look at my old manifold and none of that stuff was on there...so i just plugged almost everything lol. But if i find a use for the holes later on, i can always unplug. Now if i can just figure out the wiring. Anyone know about wiring the weber carb? I have a 3 wire harness that is attached to the choks, ads, and the bowl vent. I can hook up the ads but do i cut off the bowl vent solenoid or?
  2. Oh, is it ok to jb weld the manifold? Will there be a problem if i leave it open?
  3. what do you mean blended the manifold and adapter? Should i grind it with a dremel? Is it ok to leave it the way it is?
  4. hello again all, I know I keep asking question son the weber swap but, I'm confused about a few new things now that I have the kit. First off, the adapter plate seems to be off center. As you can see in the below picture, the actual intake port is where the red is. The adapter port opens where the black arrows are. so between the arrows and the red, the is the lip of the intake manifold sticking out. Is that normal or did I get a bad adapter? Can I remove the parts circled in red in the 2 pictures below? And the last picture, can I plug holes 1 and 2? and is the tube the 3rd arrow pointing at for the heater core or should I plug that too?
  5. I just bought empi axles from rock auto..brand new for 51 bucks a piece. I cant comment on durability yet but the quality seemed very nice from visual inspection
  6. So I just figured out the previous owner of my brst completly stripped out the threads where the y pipe bolts to the engine. Im just wondering the best option to fix it. Is heli coil stronger or should I just drill and tap from m10 bolt to 7/16?
  7. Thanks for that clarification gloyale...I was gonna cut the asv pipe and try to shove the quarter in there. ..lol
  8. Alright, thanks again guys I hope to have the subaru running here shortly
  9. oh, one other question since it is pretty close to the same topic. I'm switching to the weber carb and there is the tube that comes of the exhaust just below the ASV and runs up to the air cleaner. What do I do with that hole? I won't be using it anymore....does the Ea82 pipe have that?
  10. Oh guess that just answered my question. Didn't see the reply from tom before typing that. So is an ea82 y pipe a direct bolt up and easy swap?
  11. It just has it on the passenger side. The other pipe is bolted directly to the engine. If it seems to flex will it work like that or am I better off cutting off the valve and shoving a quarter in like mentioned elsewhere in the forum?
  12. Hey guys, on my 82 brat i still have my non functioning air suction valve. I was planning to remove it and noticed it is attached to a manifold bolted on to the exhaust port on the engine. Can i remove the whole thing, manifold and all and just bolt my exhaust directly to the engine?
  13. Hey guys I got and offer for a factory service manual for 10 bucks whih is a steal of course. I have an 82 brat and the manual is for 1981 1800cc Subaru's. Should it be pretty much accurate even though it is a year early?
  14. Just wondering if anyone is around in Northern Arizona, preferably Flagstaff. Looking to make some buddies here to maybe go wheelin, chat, share info, help each other with subie projets, etc...Anyone interested?
  15. Sweet, Thanks guys. I'll let you know how it goes when I get my parts this week!
  16. Hope i dont drive you guys crazy but, Anyone have any tips or a how to for changing out front wheel bearings?
  17. So its the same as the stock setup. I didnt think the weber air cleaner had ports for the breather. Im getting the rectangular air cleaner that is seen on most weber setups. It has the ports?
  18. I now have my weber 32/36 and new intake on the way. I understand i can get rid of most vacuum and emissions equipment but, im still confused as to what happens with the pcv valve and valve cover breather hoses. What should i do with those?
  19. Yeah i think i like the idea of the weber from reading....what do you guys put over the valve cover breather holes and pcv once all the hoses are gone? I know everything else gets plugged but, that too?
  20. Sounds good, thanks for the info. I went to rebuild my carb, realized it was the one barrel and that I an't find parts for it and now I'm just searching for an inexpensive option that will be reliable(I wasn't liking the one barrel anyways, kept causing stalls in left hand turns. Why do you say the hitachi is as bad as the one barrel? It seems most places I read it was pretty good. Are there carbs from other vehicles that fit the 1bbl manifold that would be better?
  21. Nice...good to know...That make me happy haha...now I just need to figure out how to ditch this 1bbl carb...I guess it's worthless and you can't find rebuild kits ....I also don't like my car dieing on left hand turns.
  22. I looked around the forum a bit and saw people mentioning the swap and SPFI but, I just want to verify, If I want to get rid of the 2 bbl weber can I just buy the Hitachi manifold and 2 bbl carb from an 80's something EA81 engine and put it on without changing anything else?
  23. Hey guy and gals, I am new to the club so I should say my name is Tom and I just purchased my 1982 Brat GL 3 weeks ago, running and in sort of decent shape for $900(not bad). Anyways, the car has the 31 year old blues right now with a myriad of rubber and plastic parts messed up, and general wear and tear items going out. I'm working out most of those problems but, currently I'm rebuilding the carburetor(which is not in good shape) and got to wondering about the oil in the air cleaner. It's clearly motor oil and since there is a lot of oil in the passenger side valve cover breather hose and the inlet on the air cleaner I know it' coming from there. now I've read in some forums about other cars(Chevy big blocks mostly) that this can be cause by worn rings, vacuum problems, bad pcv valve, various other things. I'm curious to know what exactly can cause it in the brat and if I'm missing any parts that should be there. I know the PCV valve in the engine is bad but, it's not connected to that hose in anyway. There is no filter or valve in that hose of any sort(should there be?). Other than that the engine does have quite a few vacuum leaks, missing vacuum and emissions hoses, is in bad need of a tune up, has bad ignition coil, etc...All of this seems to be causing missing, occasional backfire, and stalling. Could any of that be causing the oil to come through the breather? Anything else I should look at? Also his car has the apparently nightmarish Weber-carter 1bbl Carb. Thanks in advance for any answers! -Tom
