  1. It overheats 1 per month ( every 1000 mile s) becuse its low on coolant. I add a about a gallon when it overheats. When you refil coolants, it gets pushed back into reservoir bottle and overflows, coolant doesn't get sucked back from reservoir which is confusing to me....?.. Why doesn't coolant return? Thank you so much for advice! Is this the diagnosis for the head gasket?
  2. You haven't mentioned any overheating symptoms - they usually overheat. make sure it's diagnosed properly. EJ20 is 120hp Ej22 is 135hp EJ25 is like 165hp
  3. My 2000 outback w 197 k has been pushing coolant into the overflow. It does this on a monthly basis .the car will then overheat because it is lost coolant out of the radiator Compression test is fine at 180 Radiator cap has been replaced with Subaru oem. I don't see coolant leaking anywhere besides around the overflow. All clamps and hoses are tight Do you think it's head gasket? Brown droplets in the overflow
  4. What are you guys think of the EJ 20 engine. It's JDM 2 liter swap on eBay. One thousand dollars plus shipping, This will be my third head gasket job. Maybe I should just go with the newer engine
  5. The puzzling thing is compression is good at all cylinders , can the head gasket still be blown?
  6. I have been battling the coolant being forced back through the reservoir for the last 40k. Head gaskets were done at 110 k and now I am at 197k. Had the car to several mechanics who were stumped ....until I found this post on " coolant forced back into reservoir bottle" thank you USMB! My compression is all @ 180 pounds. My radiator is new . I have black brown droplets in the coolants. I want to keep the car till 250k. I will need a mechanic to do the job for me . Is this 100% sure and gaskets? What else am I going to be involved with. Would be better just to swap JDm engine?
