  1. I looked thru the classifieds here and didn't see any but if anyone has one, I would feel better about replacing it than trying to fix the old one!
  2. i'll have to pull it off and try, thanks!
  3. Hey y'all! The inner flange on the oil pump drive gear on my 1988DL Is no longer attached to the gear and is just flopping loosely on the shaft. If I pulled the gear off the shaft and remove this flange completely will the timing belt run true? If I leave it on I am sure that it will eventually damage the belt. I have looked online for a new drive gear and have not been able to find one. Thanks for all the help!
  4. I have many projects. That is what they are...right?! Surely I don't buy them just to have them do I?
  5. If that engine is OHC,you could pop the valve cover with the engine off, turn the engine with a socket until the #4 exhaust valve is beginning to open and check for slack in the intake cam follower. If the follower is tight, then the valve is not seating.
  6. Sounds like the same cylinder every time. Try starting it with the #3 plug wire disconnected and grounded. If the popping goes away or decreases, i would say it is an intake valve issue. I don't know the engine, but if it has adjustable clearance, i would say the valve may not be closing all the way.
  7. Actually, I pulled the switch apart to see if it could be cleaned up and it has gotten hot due to corroded contacts and melted the plastic. The motor works on all speeds if I jump the leads. Thanks for all the input!
  8. I was afraid of that. No dealer locally and very few Subarus in the local salvage yards. Gives me a reason for a road trip, like I really need a reason!
  9. Howdy all! I have inherited my son's '88 dl wagon after he moved on to a mustang and I am fixing it up to be my daily driver. Today I found the vacuum leak that was keeping heater selector buttons from working but it also needs a new blower motor switch. It is the 4 position rotary switch. I have been to all my go to local stores and rockauto but no-one has it listed. Anybody have a source? Thank you!
